Especially to those of you who were so kind and supportive of my lad in this thread:

Young buna has just been notified of his promotion to Second Officer but the downside is his current leave has been cut short as a result and he is off to join his new ship tomorrow in Barcelona, the MV Noordam...don't suppose you can have it all ways :)

Congratz to your son! :salute:
I hope the collision with the white carrack, depicted in the logo, went well. :) A ship of the size of the Noordam should probably just plow through a wooden vessel.

Yay to the Buna family!:salute:
Much luck and hopeful advancement to Captain down the line.
As someone without kids who wants at least one. I can only be envious, and happy that your work did not end in vain.
He coulda been a chav. :timeout: (kidding)
Good job sir, and much prosperity to you and your family.

I wasn't sure at first, if the logo should not show a white ship painted on the bow, but no: the white ship denies the bigger ship the right of passage - their mistake :arrgh!:

Much appreciated mate...he'll only turn into a chav if he doesn't look after his parents when they're old :O:

Sorry but we cross posted...James read your post and he informs me the company logo is meant to signify how long ago the company was formed.

Pass along to Second Officer Buna my congratulations and utmost admiration for conducting himself in such a manner as to be awarded the new post as Second Officer MV Noordam. I'm inclined to believe he takes after his father.

James, well done lad, you really make your dad proud, as too are we. I wish you all the best with your new role, don't forget to swing by Newcastle like your last did (and if you can fit it into Immingham I'll gladly buy you a pint). :yeah:
I guess I don't underestimate when I say, that you are very proud of your son
And I as I wrote in your earlie post about your son sea adventure- I'm really envy on your family and your son.
Here's is where M/S Noordam is right now

Congrats to your son and you family! Bet you didn't expect this when he was a toddler and possibly annoying the heck out of his dad; it must be gratifying for you and the missus to know you are responsible for that fine young officer...

I sincerely hope he holds you to that one day but don't worry...he has nowhere near the capacity his old man has :)

LOL what I did notice when we were aboard Eurodam a few months back was the stewards etc. refeering to him as 'Chief' which I thought was a little strange seeing as I'm his father and he was probably younger than most of those addressing him :)
He's moving up in the world. Congrats to him and your family Jim :salute:
Cheers Chad...hows married life suiting you?
Well done to the lad, she's a cracking looking ship.

Shame about the cancellation of leave, but that's the downside of climbing up the ladder. Still, he's done bloody well. Like I said, Jim, you and Mrs Buna must have done summit right. :salute:

Somebody outshines the sun today, eh? :sunny:
:yeah:
Fair winds for the coming Captain Kirk. Doing the tide warp just one second before self-destruction, riding on the waves of a Tsunami and beating the time record for Plymouth-New York that way, cruising with the ladies and champagne and all that, occasionally balking at the engineer "I need full power now!" - That's where the fun of life is! :D
