Thanks a bunch, Kloef! I just wasted several minutes of my life (well, not exactly wasted, but time I could have spent [well, not could have, but should have] doing other, more important [well, not more important, but stuff I should be doing]) looking at those pictures.

Now, unsure of the relative importance of what I've just done, I have to (well, not have to, but you start to get the picture...) go back and look at them all again.

Well. One of these glasses (we call them Masskrug) has a weight of 1.3 kg or 2.8660099000000003 lb each and empty.

The content (we call it beer) should be 1.0 ltr or 1.0 kg or 2.204623 lb each.

That lovely little girl in Vendor's photo is carrying 12 of those glasses (Masskrüge), that would be something like:

12 x 1.3 kg = 15.6 kg for the glasses
12 x 1.0 kg = 12.0 kg for the beer

That would make 27.6 kg or 60.84759480000001 lb what the girl is actually carrying. :o

The majority of arrests came for theft of a 1 litre beer stein...it was so common we actually had a peo forma statement which meant you only needed to add the individuals name and address etc.

To exit the building (which was in a very large basement), the individual had to walk up some steps to pavement level where yours truly and colleagues were...if one was spotted holding a stein they were barred from entry onto the street and asked to return said property which usually sufficed but those that offered resistance, verbal or otherwise were put in a van and given a free ride to the nick where the bed and breakfast bill was rather hefty the next morning.

Much cheaper to purchase one online a day or two after your visit to the event.

Carnival doesn't start before November 11th, so still time for him to pack a weird costume and get the car done . :D
However the time of the year is the biggest disadvantage (it goes till about February) So you usually see sparely dressed women only inside, not on the streets - except for the more classy ones who are too drunk to care. :yep:

Got a question though, jim:

Did you talk about the costs in terms of punishment, or do overnight guests who are hosted by the police have to pay for the stay? :huh:

Sorry mate, it was meant in cost of terms of punishment....whilst the prisoner would be fed at approximately 07:00 the fine imposed by a magistrate in monetary terms would make it an expensive meal :03:
