Stephen King's sequel to his horror novel The Shining is to be released on 24 September 2013, 36 years after the original was published.
Doctor Sleep will follow Danny Torrance, the young boy who survived the horrific events of The Shining.
According to King's official website, Dan meets a "very special 12-year-old girl" who he must "save from a tribe of murderous paranormals".
Now a middle-aged man and aided by a prescient cat, he becomes Doctor Sleep.
One of King's most loved works, The Shining was adapted into a 1980 film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick.

Why can't some good things be left alone?

I know; let's ruin everything with sequels and remakes!

ALIENS?...Hardly :yeah:
One of the few which was good.
Back on topic...Didn't King hate The Shining? :hmmm:

Art as in Tate Modern?
Pile of bricks anyone? :har:
Art my arse. :haha:
Maybe old Mr King can do a story where its sucked into the 4th dimension. :ping:
Calling this a sequel is a bit of a stretch. The two stories seem to have very little to do with each other.

Art as in Stanley Kubrick as opposed to the Michael Bay of the 1980's, James Cameron. Pile of bricks indeed.

And STEED was talking about good sequels, which ALIENS was, no matter if
you like the genre or not. :yep:

But you are missing my point; that not all art is equal. Comparing Kubrick with Cameron is like comparing Crime and Punishment with as issue of Uncanny X-Men. Both have words on paper, but their intrinsic value is not the same. In this thread the topic is the befoulment of something that was directed by a master of cinema. James Cameron does not fit that bill.
Oh, I agree with you. :yep:
Just pointed out that (atleast to me) STEED was talking about sequels in general. :salute:

It is a marketing ploy to catapult off the success of the previous.
Not passing premature judgement, just saying I see throught the ploy.
Good thing I wait for netflix or Redbox, movie tickets are bordering on extortion.
(especially with the internet, and some of things a driven man could find if he looked, if you catch my drift. Theatres should really be nicer.)
