A few of us are floating a fair way to have a competition online. The goal is to create a single mission, then create teams and see who can score the best. Maybe someone already has a server setup up we could use?

Hello dear friend,
In France we play online since 2007 and many have already scoured the Pacific with TMO.
Today, the server more convenient, we believe, is Tunngle. It is free.
For oral discussion, we use TeamSpeak but it is not mandatory to play although this contribution a real comfort.

Experience shows that you can not trust anyone. It will therefore create a small mod that locks the game settings and also eliminates anything that floats or flies wich are not needed for the mission. This allows to reduce the bandwidth for those who have a low rate.
If you need more information, I am at your service. :salute:

I'm interested. I tend to play TMO with a few tweaking mods like SCAF. 100% Realism.

Do hope this picks up.

I've never played online but a few tries way back with stock, so hopefully Gibus can walk us through the process. I assume this would be coop play.
Sure, it would be cool if we could work it to where someone could play the role of the enemy.

Basically, we want teams of two subs playing the exact single mission. See who can do the best and compare methods of attack. It's more comparison, than competition. We'll have to figure out the use of mods, in fairness each team will have to use the same ones.

Course the people that want to do this are people I know and trust, all want a level playing field. Not sure if there is away to make sure all are using the same mods, game settings, etc..

Course the game play options will be difficult, as well as the missions. I have several that would be great, but obvious using my own would give me and advantage, so we'll have to find some or get someone to make us a few.

Hello Armistead

I'll try to answer as you loose a lot of questions different.

Coopération or versus: Despite numerous attempts to develop the versus mode, we left because the game is poorly designed for it. One player controls the Japanese convoy and it is very difficult for him to face 2 or 3 good players. In addition, he control destroyers only. The rest of the convoy made its way. So we play together.
Competition: it takes place over one year at the rate of 1 part per month. As designer missions, I am naturally standout.
Challenging inter-packs: we build wolves packs in which players are integral to their success as failure. Thus, a player in trouble can be saved by a comrade who will torpedo the DD who wishes him evil. Bonuses may be awarded if the objective of the assignment is fully achieved. A penalty is given if one or more submarines were sunk.
Challenging Takeo Kurita: Currently, we play this compéttion with packs of two players on 3 battles: the Palawan Passage, attack Sibuyan Sea and Battle of Samar. The layout of the Japanese Main body is scrupulously respected. USS Darter and USS Dace are set as 23 October 1944 at 05:10. The fleet sails at 16 knots and two columns espacing 4,000 yards, each in its place, no zigzag, no destroyer before. Units cast by each pack are removed from the body to fight the next mission. So, each pack will play a different scenario in the second part. 1500 bonus reputation is given for the destruction of Yamato and Musashi. 1000 penalty points by submarine sank.
We also play friendly games, or 100% realism.

Of course, for this to work, all players must have exactly the same configuration in game This rule admits of no exception.
All destroyers are classified Elite.
All this is subject to presentation of items associated procedures, whenever recalled, as players we need their hands held.
This is also why we must create a small mod, especially for the multiplayers to lock the game settings, so that the players, intentionally or not, can not change them.
We play with TMO_17 + mod translate in French. We believe TMO_25 migrate in 2013.

PS: When I reread me, I realized that Google Translate translated my words to the back of my mind. The French language is sometimes distorted.
Do not hesitate to ask me again if this seems obscure.
