A new ape species has been discovered in Kongo. The male becomes 65 cm high. However, they already should get rated as highly endangered species.

What stuns me, is this picture, the facial expression. Maybe I am anthropomorphizing, but I look like into a face of a human, of character and personality. And calmness, friendliness.

For some reason, my first associations with it are faces of saints in Orthodox icons, or portraits of Buddha. Same sort of modest calmness to it :)

Yes, I thought the same, orthodox icons. My first thought was: an enlighted Jesus! And that I do not mean as a cheap shot. It really was my first thought.

I saw the same facial and eye expression at times in portraits of gorillas.

Well, that can be misleading indeed when you are not aware of that you do it, but:
