Have you tried clicking the picture of a shell in F10 screen? The gun is initially not loaded. After you click it once, it goes to automatic and reloads without you needing to keep clicking - until next patrol.

If I am correct this only happens in the VIIB and sublynx is correct

RTFM is good and all but do you seriously read the manual before you've played the game? Hell, I didnt even play the tutorials when playing through SH3 for the first time. I find it easier to ask people online for the answer rather then go through pointless text to find the solutution that may or may not be there.
P.S No offense intended:D
It is not limited to the VIIB.
It also happens with the type IXB.
That makes me think it is common to all variants of the VII and IX series that retain their deck gun.:hmmm:
I'm so used to it now that ordering the deck gun manned and then manually loaded is the very first thing I do before leaving port.
Just remember not to set the deck gun to fire at will, or Uncle Karl will be very unhappy with you for firing on all those German ships around you.

i like this bug actually if you can even call it that. after all you don't dive your boat with the deck gun still loaded now. i wish you had to load it manually every time after surfacing. one of those little things that makes it realistic

Yes, both game manual and gwx manual cover to cover. I know others did too.
I figured if they released a 700 page manual, then there was probably some critical info included.
I also read it out if respect for the guys that toiled to produce it.
It stands on its own as a WWII reference book, kudos to the gwx team.
