View Full Version : Wrong patrol history

I recently bought SH3 and so far I really like the game(did 3 patrols and I am about to start my 4th).

But there is something wrong with my 1st patrol history because I know I sank 4 ships in that patrol (a trawler 98tons, a small coastal vessel 114tons, a coastal merchant 2042tons and a small merchant 2339tons), but my patrol history says I sank not a single ship (and my start date is 0/0/0 what is also strange IMO).

Now is my question is this in a strange way normal or is it just a little bug in my game by the 1st patrol (because at the patrol history of my 2nd and 3rd patrol everything is correct) or does anyone else have this too?

Greetings DesertGhost :arrgh!:

Note: I haven't installed any mod (yet) for my SH3 game

Your problem is the infamous 1st patrol bug. I suggest you read this thread and some of its first posts.

By the way, I've just read you hadn't installed a mod yet. SH3 vanilla alone (even with the official 1.4b patch) still quite far from the real authentic and historically accurate WW2 U-boat experience so let me recommend trying one of the main supermods that you can get from the download section. I myself use the GWX Gold 3.0 with some minor fixes. You can get it from here: http://www.thegreywolves.com/

Besides the supermods I consider the SH3 Commander a must since it doesn't only offer you a couple of useful options (such as simulating historically accurate career length, randomising number of days spent in base, modifying fatigue model etc) but also gives a much deeper background to your commander by creating a Personnel file. You can get it from here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=2923

I wish you a long and juicy career all over the world from the freezing waters of the Arctic convoys to the exotic seas of the Far East!

Thank you for all the information, I clearly didn't search good enough for an answer
I have heard of the GWX mod and I think I am definitely going to try that one (if I can get it installed ) probably going to try the SH3 commander mod a bit later, but that's up to me :O:
But once again thank you and have a nice day :salute:

You're welcome. I advise you to play the vanilla game for a short time. This way you'll get used to the basics of U-boat warfare. Eventually when you're starting to get tired of the easy tons (just before I changed to GWX from stock game I was almost always having 70-80,000-ton patrols, ridiculously unrealistic ) install a supermod and you'll see the difference. I don't even try to write all the fixes down, there are simply too many. They involve among others smarter antisubmarine forces, more difficult and challenging aiming i.e. no more impact shot to the fuel bunkers = 99.99% guaranteed kill, but each ship has her own weak point, etc, etc...
Nevertheless, the choice is yours! :03:
