Hello everyone.
I just registered today at work...
I have some great passions, history, warhistory, aviation, and naval history, both above and below the sea, with an interest for submarines - particulary russian subs (alfa and akula...do I need to say more!?).
Anyway, my interest like most people started with the movies...Das Boot, The Hunt for Red October, Crimson Tide, Hostile Waters and so on...
In fact, one of the first movies I remember was one about a sub crew after ww3 and a scene where one went ashore in his home city (maybe San Fransico?) and the crew went to New Zeeland or something...not sure because I saw the movie like 25-30 years ago.
One of my best childhood friends went into the Navy on subs, last I heard (10 years ago or so, he was aiming for Sub captain), but I hevent talked to him in a long while. Of course Norway have Diesel/electric subs...
Anyway I dont remember my first submarine game - I think it was back on the Amiga, might have been "the hunt for Red October" which we didnt quite know how to play at the time (had not yet seen the movie), but I do remember a Submarine game where I was sneaking in some Norwegian Fjords (WW2 game)!
As I am from a costal town called Ålesund (Aalesund) I do know that a British submarine (might have been Norwegian crew) sank a boat 1-2 km from where I grew up during the war.
Anyway, just wanted to say "hi" to everyone and look forward to following the forums (sorry if my English is a tad off, Norwegian is my first language!).
