A parasite spread by cats is infecting 1,000 new people every day in Britain – about 350,000 a year – according to an official assessment of the risks posed by toxoplasma, which can cause serious illness and has been tentatively linked with schizophrenia and other psychotic disturbances.

You are correct in using the term "tentatively" because it is early days and nothing is definite yet.

I have had cats from the day I was born an until now. Have never been sick due to my cats or related to them

The only sickness I ever had, was when one of my cats bit me in the right hand and I was on sick leave for about 2 month.
