I played the wounded giant battle today. I put a fish in to Rodney forward, she was down by the bow very quickly, I got another in to her and she developed a bad list to starboard.
I got my third in to her between the 2nd and 3rd turrets and she blew up, however her list soon correted and sank more or less on an even keel.

Does this change the sinking mechanics ?

this is a tricky one as ship sinking has been looked at many times.
Here is where i think we are so far.
There has been a bug found in the GR2 ships for their zone damage and flooding. It will not spread.
TDW has fixed this (:woot:) with his patcher - but you also need to use the verion of the zone file within the mods folder of the patcher.
So far people who have tested have have also used the AI repair patch - where crew will try and repair damage and pump out flooded areas as long as they are not over % damage.
As far as I know - this has not been fully tested to get the info to TDW to balance this where flooding will cause ships to list and capsize but also where crew will try and stop that happening
:arrgh!:

There is also a bug (if you want to call it that) in the AI crew damage control patch that prevents a ship from sinking at all sometimes. If the crew works fast enough to repair the damage (or stabilizes the damage) and pumps out the flood water the ship may never sink even though the game says it's dead (destroyed mark on map). I have to revise this patch so that it looks at the HPs of the unit. I'm going to add something along the lines of when HPs of unit are down to 25% crew quits trying to repair damage/flooding (because more than likely if the unit has only 25% health remaining majority of the crew are probably dead/wounded and thus unable to repair damage/flooding).
