Time to kick some Taliban arse.
A little over two weeks ago 5 kiwi soldiers were killed in Afghanistan. Two in an ambush & three while driving over a land mine. Then week just gone 5 Australian soldiers were killed.
R.I.P all of them.
The Taliban say we kiwis are easy targets because of our inferior weaponry maybe so. NZ govt wants to pull the troops out i think they should stay and fight if need too besides coming home is exactly what the Taliban want us to do. We're mainly there to rebuild not fight unless shot at. Yea its easy for me to say they should stay and fight when im sitting at home without the worry about have a stray bullet hitting me or a landmine blowing me to kingdom come. Still the troops want to stay on.
The Taliban says Kiwi troops are easier targets than other Coalition forces because of their inferior weaponry. After the New Zealand armed force's bloodiest month since November 1951, the Taliban's Zabiullah Mujahid promised more bloodshed for Kiwi troops.
"We will find them and kill them, there's no safety for them," the Afghan militia's spokesman said. The Taliban had extensive knowledge of New Zealand weaponry and movements, he said in an authenticated telephone interview with a Herald on Sunday correspondent in Kabul.
"We know ... which kinds of weapons and ammunition they have. We know that the New Zealanders do not have strong weapons like the Americans or British, but if they had it wouldn't matter for us."
The grandfather of slain Christchurch soldier Lance Corporal Pralli Durrer said he was not worried about Kiwi soldiers having inferior weapons.
Jack Durrer said: "They have weapons to fight. They do not fire first, but they can fire. And if they get into trouble they can call for the Americans to help.
"And they would come to help as quickly as possible."
The Prime Minister has said Kiwi troops will be pulled out of the war-ravaged country earlier, after five deaths in two weeks.
But Durrer said Kiwi troops should stay the course in Afghanistan.
Sorry to hear of their deaths. Hero's, everyone of them!
Interesting report about what happened. Listen to what the female reporter says near the end about the Afghan Govt. it hits the nail right on the head!

Thanks for that. Thats our labour govt tho a bunch of pansies. We lose some troops the politicians panic and want to pull them out now. We were doing good over there helping the Afganisation rebuild obviously we are going to get into a shoot out now and then. We should stay and fight imho. Maybe the Americans can donate us better weapons :haha:
Kiwi, have you ever been present during a Maori Farewell Ceremony? A Haka I believe its called. Just saw that ceremony video for their fallen comrades. Pretty emotional thing to watch.
If those guys would take on the Taliban in hand to hand combat, there wouldn't be enough left of the Taliban to bury! They would rip those clowns to shreds!

:haha: Yes i have, The Maori soldiers during WW2 were a fearless bunch. Sometimes they're a bit on the crazy side when it comes to war, Maoris like to fight its in our blood. During WW2 in one battle in Crete, while fighting the Germans the Maori battalion stopped firing stood up and performed the haka (war dance) not a shot was fired back at them the Germans were probably wondering what the hell was going on.
During the Maori v British war in New Zealand 1800's if the battle lasted a few days the Maori would hold a truce half way through then send over some warriors with food to give to the British soldiers as it is not good mana to fight an enemy who is at a disadvantage (hungry). And that's why we lost the war. :haha:

One day a Taliban commander was walking in the desert with one million, one thousand and one hundred of his best troops. A voice called out "one Aussie is better than 100 Taliban!" the commander sent 100 men after the voice. There was some gunfire, then "one Aussie is better than 1000 Taliban!" the Taliban commander sent 1000 men after the voice. Again some gunfire, the "one Aussie is better than 10000000 Taliban troops!" the commander sent 10000000 Taliban after the voice. Again some gunfire, but this time one survivor came back, and said:
Option 1: " it's a trap! There's two of them!"
Option 2: " it's a trap! It's a new zealander!"
kiwi, if the Taliban saw this video of the Maori ceremony, they would probably turn the whole country over to them, lol
May these soldiers rest in peace.

Sounds like the Aussies got a little POed the other day when 3 of their soldiers were killed by someone posing as an Afghan soldier.
"The shooting dead of three Australian troops by an Afghan army sergeant in the south last week prompted a deadly raid to find the rogue soldier, causing a war of words between Canberra and Kabul."
Hope they got the bastid!

I wonder if the Kiwis are easier targets because they maybe lack IED "proof" vehicles? I know that the US,UK,Germans and French and Aussies have plenty of good vehicles that protect the crews from blasts.Maybe the Kiwis lack these and therefore are an easy target for IEDs.
The US IED absorbing vehicles cost about 1 million to 1.4 million a piece though.
The Taliban like to use the tactic of dressing as or paying off a Afghan cop or solider(money goes to his family) because that is an easy way to attack NATO troops and it makes the NATO troops less likely to trust Afghans in general which plays into the hands of the Taliban. It is insurgency/counterinsurgency warfare nasty stuff.
NZ uses the same small arms as the Aussises right so they should be equal to an Australian unit in firepower. The ANZAC SASR needs to go crack some heads my dad worked with those guys in Vietnam sometimes they where very tough back then.

We're not actually NATO. We're UN.
I know, all these initials are confusing!

They are part of the ISAF International Security Force which includes members of NATO and Nations like Australasia,France and New Zeland. Some kiwi troops are part of a UN program though UNAMA.
Are you sure you know what your countrymen are doing in Afghanistan?
As far as I am aware they are not there as peace keepers same goes for Australasia. The ISAF is not a UN action.
I said NATO because it is easier although ISAF would be a more correct term.

I really hate how all these organizations with the same countries in them and the same goals have to have different names.
But Australia being part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization?!:06:

They are not you are getting ISAF and NATO confused I think.ISAF consists of nations some of which are NATO and others that are not.Or you think that I think that they are NATO members.
The one link shows the ISAF emblem on one side and the NATO emblem on the other this must be because NATO is the only treaty organization fully involved with ISAF.NATO must be running the ISAF website as well which would explain why it has nato.int in the address it does not mean that New Zealand or Australiaare NATO members.
I was never trying to say that they where NATO members my use of the term "NATO" troops was an error.
