I am sure you guys have seen Steams new Greenlight program where indie game developers can submit their projects and Steam members can vote for them and if they get enough Steam gives the dev the money to finish the project or get it on Steam.

Well this seems like a good idea but if you scan through the list of project many of them are listed several times. This tells me that many dummies are just posting a game that they want to see on Steam themselves. Some games are produced by developers that have no need of aid such as Graviteams Steel Armor Blaze of War.The German publisher it seems that they want to sell it on Steam if of course you live in Germany it does not say though that the game might be restricted to sale in certain regions.

The multiple listing might be caused by this fact that a game may have a different publisher in different regions which screws up the process. What if everyone winds up voting for the wrong region for the game that they want?Oh well.

Steam needs to stream line this little idea they have I think personally.

Also if you read the comments on some games which you can already buy elsewhere you see "this game needs to be on Steam" why really are people such Steam Fanbois that they just have to see a game on Steam to be happy? It seems so and why not just by the game not on Steam and then add it to your Steam games list?

This thing should be for true indie games not some game already available elsewhere help the underdog.

I prefer having all my digital content under one log-in for ease of access. On top of that, I know steam isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so I'll pretty much always have access to my games(unlike D2D which recently changed hands to Gamefly, which prevented some titles from being accessed).

I do agree that Steam needs to manage the process, as people are putting up games that really shouldn't be there, such as "Sonic Heroes" or "Postal 2". Also people are voting for source mods, such as Cry of Fear, Neotokyo, and Slender: Source, which is kind of stupid. I've also spotted a few IOS games, such as McPixel, which if you have an I(phone/touch/pad) you should get, as it's quite hilarious.

As for voting for indie games, so far I've voted for:
Folk Tale - An interesting looking RTS: http://www.gamesfoundry.com/
Kenshi - A free roam RPG game http://www.lofigames.com

Both are interesting looking indie games(although I'm familiar with Kenshi, it's been mentioned on RPS)

We should really use this topic to draw attention to the indie games that deserve the votes.

I like variety myself competition is always a good thing one company benefits if you only want to buy from them.I buy from who has the best price and /or game that I want if it is Steam fine if it happens to be Gamers Gate or another distributor fine by me as well I want the the game I really do not care who is selling it.Furthermore business is business you have no guarantee that Steam will not be bought or sold.Did the fanboi comment touch a nerve?:03:

A good example I got the Vietnamese game 7554(date of the defeat of the French European style in the US that is 5/7/54) at Gamers Gate it is not on Steam and probably never will be.It is a bit dated of a game graphics wise but I give the Vietnamese developer credit for making it and only having 1 million dollars to work with for what it is it is not bad and it is the only game that lets you play as viet minh.

My whole issue is I thought it was called Green light which implies something that needs help to even be on the market not something that needs help getting on Steam alone. To me this is cheap the publishers that do this are simply cheap they must have decided not for some reason to have spent their own capital to have the game on Steam so they want people to vote for it.What a crock and they have no problem taking up attention that a truly indie game needs. On top of that Steam has no control over the who submits so many games (crappy looking ones) are on there several times further taking away from the true gems.

And what is with all the zombie games? This just proves that I am about 20 years ahead of the curve I liked zombie flicks back in the 80's and played Resident Evil when it was actually something different back in 1996.

I liked Routine and Underrail. Edge of Space looks good http://routinegame.com/

Routine looks interesting, definitely getting my vote.

It was only a matter of time before someone abused the system.

A user named "Sarah", made a greenlight titled "Donate to me Please ;_;". She puts a sob story on how her parents are dead, and posts a anime video of girls crying. What does she want? Someone to donate a copy of CS:GO to her.

Here is the exact info:
Can anyone gift me CS:GO please I am really desperate, my parents died a year ago and I have been struggling to buy anything ever since there must be someone out there who can help ;_;

Paypal: vanneruk@googlemail.com

Or you can donate if you feel like it :) ty

This may be good to push some new naval sims out there.
Of course we need a Dev to make and pitch it to steam first.

I always felt slighted that naval sims never reach mainstream status.

Even the Silent Hunter series was always a niche game. I just wish there was more attention for niche gamers, which I believe a fair amount of us are. After all...*points to the site name*

This could be promising, and a good gesture by steam. Not all great games are made by big studios with huge budgets. (most are hurried by same corporations who supply the budget, and released bug ridden)

Paradox Interactive is the same way, with publishing/distributing peoples advanced mods as games. (Arsenal of Democracy, Mount and Blade: With fire and sword)

I played the alpha demo for UnderRail for a bit yesterday very cool game kind of an old school Fallout feel and it has some interesting features that are unique to itself though.

I am looking forward to Wasteland 2 myself which of course had a highly successful Kickstarter a few months back.

I saw some half wit post their game it was called "Bladder Control" nothing more need be said about that one I think it got removed by Steam.

According to the three people working on UnderRail on their forums they said that they reported to Steam that any person posting the game without their
permission is violating copyright laws and urged Steam to remove the unauthorized ones.

Steam needs to put some effort in moderating the process and get rid of the bogus stuff they also need to decide are they going to "greenlight" games already on the market elsewhere
which is not truly green lighting or are they only going to green light true indie games. Many of those games listed are not real indie "this game is my concept I would like some help" types in all honesty.

For Sarah I gladly donate 100 crocodile tears if you cant afford a 14.99 game but can afford to pay the monthly cost of internet you are in a very interesting situation a bull hockey(my uncles replacement for sheet) situation
