I can just imagine Duke Nukem, sitting by the fireplace, a cognac glass in hand, reading "50 Shades of Gray". :rotfl2:

While I laughed like hell over that - I have to say - the book itself is so much tripe. It fails utterly to convey what the reality of D/s is like.

But apparently, there was a market for "mommy porn". Not suprising since most adult women still suppress their inate submissive sexuality. Course - wanting a Man who knows his role and hers is kind of ironic since modern feminism and political correctness has done all it can to neuter men.

Betenov,

D/s is shorhand for the Dominant/submissive (often also and somewhat incorrectely referred to as BDSM - Bondage, Domination, Sadism and Masochism) lifestyle. 50 Shades of Grey also touches of facets of the S&M aspect as well as the M/s (Master/slave) one.

The issue I take with it is that it is more about the "what" than the why. It goes in to great detail on the "what happens" and "how" it makes the peson feel (from the narrative point of view), but it never really delves into the balance such relationships require, or the great responsibility that the Dominant has. I feel that those who choose to partake in such an alternative lifestyle need to be better prepared for its realities - rather than just glorifying the "what fun stuff people can do that enjoy that kind of thing!".
