View Full Version : Viewing the Gun Stations

I've come back to SHIII after a lengthy layoff. Now I have a PC capable of running it in its full GWX enhanced glory I intend to make quite the nuisance of myself amongst the shipping lanes. However, I've run into a bit of a snag in my plan for maritime domination...
When I press F10 or F11 to go to either of the gun stations, nothing happens. I've tried it both manned and unmanned with no difference. I'm running GWX Gold with only a few mods (Merchant Fleet Mod and Contact Colours). Has anyone run into something like this before and worked out what caused it, or am I being special again?
I could carry on happily just using torpedoes on the bigger targets, but there's something just plain satisfying about hurling huge lumps of metal at high velocity...

Hi SinkingFeeling.
Only thing that comes to mind is weather. You can't man or view those stations in rough weather.

Thanks for the thought, but it was dead calm at the time...
I can't test anything out at the moment, as it is blowing a gale and I'm in somewhat of a precarious situation. Outside Scapa on the 2nd of September '39.

waiting for the hood are you lol i ran into her there on the 3rd once.
are you using a laptop? i am and i cant use the F-XX shortcuts because all the buttons are taken up so i have to mouse click them. also the F button will take you to main flak gun anyway.
there is a mod somewhere to reassign keys so you could use that to put in a CTRL command to get to the deck gun

...There usually is a blue Fn button that key-combos with other buttons to provide different functions. I've seen this being used (as far as waaaaay back in the early 90s) to provide a number key-pad, contrast/brightness/LCD-off/volume/Sleep/Stand-by buttons and also Fxx buttons on laptops. Look for smaller Fxx symbols on your buttons in grey or blue. When in doubt, RTFM of your laptop.

I'm actually on a desktop machine, and the rest of the F keys work a treat. I rebooted the machine and restarted SH3 and it seems to have done the trick. I guess it was just one of those aberrations. It's funny, I thought the 'Malfunction and Sabotage' option in SH3 Commander was meant to act on the submarine, not my keyboard! :D
Thanks for your help gentlemen, much appreciated!
Now, back to wandering around outside Scapa yelling "Here Hoody, Hoody, I've got a nice eel here for you!"
