So I'm reinstalling (in this case I'm actually redownloading from steam) in preperation to install the 1.4 patch (the Steam copy is definitely v1.3 ). After the install I think I may start a campaign in RSRD. As somewhat of a rookie to subsims (I played AoD but that was a long time ago and I played on easy settings because I was a 14 yearold kid who just wanted to blow stuff up with torpedoes) what sub do you guys recomend starting with? How much do they differ? I figure I will probably stay away from the S boats.... Also would it be wise to go ahead and get TMO or would that be to much for a rookie like me?
TY in Advance!

I have SH4 with Steam. It says v1.3 but it's really v1.4
You have to purchase the U-boat missions on Steam to update it to v1.5.
It's really easy to work with but again, Steam isn't the best...especially for updating this game!
Anyway, I don't like playing with the submarines because they all look the same. Boring!!!
So I play with the SSBN Ohio class in career. Sometimes I'll play with the Seawolf and other times with the Los Angeles class 688i.
They're really fun if you do it realistically. Like don't go to your objective at ahead full because events won't happen for days. Go the speed the subs back in WWII did which is normally around 12 kts to their designation. I do however play with 14 realism because the people who made the Ohio made it so your batteries drain and you can't recharge them. Also your gas go down. When it's nuclear proportion...?:hmmm:
However, I find ways to make it enjoyable. Nothing better then wiping out a task force then diving deep at ahead flank at right full rudder dodging depth charges. (Doesn't always work though!)
Well if you're interested I'll give you the downloads for the Ohio for v1.4 and Los Angeles v1.4. Cool thing about v1.4 LA is it comes with the 688 class (dive planes on bridge) and 688i class (dive planes underwater.)

Go ahead and try TMO. Also start out with the s-boat. You'll enjoy the challenge at the beginning and you'll develop tactics that help keep you alive.:salute:

I started out with a porpoise class before seeing this, but I may start anoter career with the S Class to sharpen my skills I may also see if I can find a 1.4 version or TMO and give it a try...
Not if I want to try Nuke subs just yet Hidden Soul (I really like WWII history) but I will definitely look it up in the future, speaking or which is anyone working on a Cold War era super mod atm?

They were working on it but then slowly they stopped. So it's not coming out.
I had a hell of a time finding a version for TMO for v1.4 so good luck finding it.:salute:
