Hits the nail on top, I would say.

And this is David Gergen, who has worked for Nixon and Reagan as PR manager, on that and why the US political system is dysfunctional by now.

Enemies of Ordinary People
Since the eruption of the financial crisis, paranoia has taken hold in American politics. Americans' faith in institutions has been shaken. The government has become the adversary of the citizens, and the elites the enemies of ordinary people.Where's the paranoia in a statement of the obvious ? That is valid for every citizen of almost every nation.

There is hardly an American meal that makes do without Tater Tots, mashed potatoes or French fries Well, that's news to me. I suppose we all eat at least one cheeseburger a day, too? And we all wear Levi's and blast Bruce Springsteen all day long, too, right?

Just checked out the menu of a HS I attended, and here's the choice for today:

Daily dish: BBQ Chicken or Pork Sandwich
Sides: Broccoli or Broccoli Salad and Tator Tods :o; Chilled and Fresh Fruit

- spelling error in the original (Source) (http://www.cobbk12.org/centraloffice/foodservices/schoolmenupages/menus/high/lunch/HS%20Lunch%20Website%20Menu%20Aug%2013-31.pdf)

*Hannibal Smith voice* I love it when a cliché comes together! :sunny:

I hope they won't get any repurcussions from crazy Bush-fans for offering Broccoli! :D

In defense of the Spiegel-article, I also hope you guys know that the points it makes about the state of congress and lobbyism are very valid statements.

How can one get tired of potatoes? :stare: You can fry them, grill them, bake them, mash them, smash them. So much variety, not even speaking of the hundreds of sorts there are with distinguished tastes.

You should also taste sweet potatoes one day - different from normal potatoes.

If my fammily would emigrate, Slovenia wouldn't have 61kg, but 35kg of potatoes per capita yearly.
There's tooooo much potatoes being eaten around me :Kaleun_Sick:

Are we collecting recipes for Pommes Frites now, or what...? :o

Nothing against Fritten, but you seem to have missed the real matter of the two articles, guys. The interview in the second may help to get yourself back on track.

So not to launch another thread about this: this bigot moron left me speechless.

I do not know what is more frigthening: that a man can be so retarded and dumb, or that he can still be able to convince others that it is a good idea to vote for him.

"Who is the bigger fool: the fool, or those following him?"

A long time ago I started to enjoy ocassionally eating one raw, with just a little salt.

You should also taste sweet potatoes one day - different from normal potatoes.
Hate sweet potatoes.

Must be coming up for potato harvest season about now, either this month or next. IIRC harvest begins mid to late September for most crops, although I think potatoes have a 7-12 week growth period, so planting them in March/April...should be round about now.

Given that we've had quite a damp summer, I don't think we're going to see a good harvest this year, lots of rot I'd wager. That'll push prices up...

God, listen to me, I sound like a right old boy. :haha:
