I know the fishing boats have radar warning-but if turn on my radar any length of time does the base detect radar (even if no enemy ships are in the harbor).
Also straits- like Balabac Straits near Palawan in the Phillipines- or various straits around Japan- do they get mines after a certain period in the war?

I don't think the enemy has any radar detection in the game, just radar. I don't think APR was implemented in stock, but I know Duci added it to US subs. This is different than an enemy radioing your position in. If you're spotted, different values exist between mods from how far radio will call in assets.
Mines do exist in the game, mostly near straits near Japan, outside harbors. Mods changed locations, amounts, etc...

Okay thanks about the mines. Oh the "fishingboats" carry something all right-hydrophone, radio and lookee here!
RWR! Or am I reading RWR wrong? Something we found when we boarded.
I'm running TMO 2.5
I usually give them wide berth and dive and run slow and silent and have noticed they seem to always hang around my area once I pass them on the surface more show up near me. Even when my radar is off after they spotted me. They do double back if I dive and then the 'fast movers' come along a little later and I pull the plug.
