Hello y'all, am coming back to SH5 for another try, the last time I played being about a year back. I have the stock game V1.2 I think, have done the tutorial and am now back in the pen. Time for some mods - but which ones?

I already have Dark Wraith's mod for the dials I think, and something called Real Navigation, but I recall previously having one which gave a more familiar keyboard map ( I keep pressing the arrow keys to move rather than WADS) and also would like the crew to speak in German voices if possible - that may be something I need to configure in the game - I forget now. Is there any other 'must have mods' which you consider essential to improve the game-play please?

I prefer running just a few mods, but already I have downloaded one which changes the interior, oh and one for real trees and better scenario going down that boring Kiel Kanal..

Also, I thought I saw something about 'automation' somewhere, perhaps when I went on the Ubisoft server. Is that something I need to know about please?

thank you kindly :)

Start here "SH5 Mod Guide for Beginners : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=190656

This gives you the basics:up:

You can also have a look at "sobers mega mod" : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192374

Its a list showing a list of mods with installation order and is quite popular at the moment

This is what I went off and it worked perfect for me!

Just make sure you follow the order and stick mods that are doing similar things together because you will get CTD's.

Hello She-Wolf,
If you want German voices it's during the install and you would choose Custom Install. There, one of the prompts is English or German Language. This switches the voices to German.
There may still be another way, I'm not sure of it. I only know to do this during the game install (or re install:O:).
Cheers

Hi Dogfish - I thought it might be so. Too late now as the game is installed ( sigh) but I will try and remember that should I ever need to re-install.
Thank you

Trevally.

ah! brill Trevally. I also wondered if I could access the config file via notepad, as was the case with earlier versions - but it don't matter now!!:salute:

You'll definitely want to patch the exe and act files with my patcher to fix the bugs left behind by the devs (and to add some other enhancements) :yep:
