View Full Version : I can't send "contact report"
HI
I have begin a career, my first mission start at Konisberg and i have to patrol an area in front of Poland. it's 1 ago 1939 so there is no war, I meet a poland war ship and i try to send the "contact report" but it appears it is not possible, it appears sent in the log but not in the messages table, I am on the surface.
I have GW3 and V16B1 mods
I am a mere n00b in this sim, but I have learned here on the forum that a "contact report" is really only counted as valuable when you report the presence of 3 or more enemy vessels. I belive the idea was that BdU might send either more subs or the Luftwaffe to come help put them on the bottom.
Just what I *think* I've learned in here.
Hope that helps,
Zygoma (the perpetual n00b)
ah ok, that's why. thank you very much, i'm a really noob
I don't understand this mission, there is no war in act because it is 1 ago 1939, so, I have to patrol only this area for 24 hours? anyone did this mission?

You are right the war only start in Setember 1939...you must sail to the mission grid as order for exemple (AO 14)...after you patrol the area for 24 hours you are free to sail or what ever you want to go...
Untill the start of the war you will find must of neutral ships...wich you must avoid to sink, after the war start you will find enemy ships but all so some neutral ships witch belong to neutral countries witch Germany is not at war...

I could be wrong as I haven't played this mission in SHIII, although I seem to remember a similar mission in SHII. The mission was also during August 1939, before Britain declared war on Germany; the mission objective was to attack three Polish destroyers that were 'escaping' to avoid becoming part of the Kreigsmarine. I believe that the assumption is that they would transit to Britain and be attached to the Royal Navy. In this SHII mission you were also expressly forbidden from attacking any other vessels.

If you're playing GWX then if heading out of Kiel (iirc) you can shoot the handful of ships nearby as practice and you have no net renown decrease, as GWX compensates you at the beginning with some 1500.

You dnrc. It's the 7th Flotilla at Königsberg. And you get 2500 renown rather than the usual.
@ oppolo: The purpose of starting in August is to recreate the actual history. On August 19 fourteen u-boats were sent to the Atlantic to be ready for "something". They weren't told what, but when the war actually started they were already in place. One thing you can do is just select a September start date.
The "24 hour" thing is a holdover from the way they were originally planning to have the campaign work. You get extra renown for going to your assigned grid and staying there twenty-four hours, but in GWX you don't. You are free to go anywhere you want.
@ washishu: The SH2 mission was set in September, not August. You had to sink at least two of the three Polish destroyers, or repeat the "mission" until you did. Also you weren't forbidden to attack any other ships. There were no other ships to attack. The so-called "campaign" in SH2 was nothing more than a bunch of single missions strung together. That's why SH2 was the worst of all Silent Hunter games.
