I use CamStudio for our video channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/HarPlonked

It's FreeWare.

Well I've been looking into this stuff myself lately since I've been considering doing a let's play. (Recording of your gameplay and providing commentary)

Essentially the process goes like this:

Record using Fraps or Camtasia or the like.

Then take the raw footage (which ends up being several gigs in size)

Then encode it in a program like AVS Video Encoder to bring it down to a reasonable size (A couple hundred MB I think)

Then upload to Youtube.

Here's a software resource post on a forum dedicated to let's plays and the like. http://voltronarmy.com/forums/showthread.php?375-Software-Guide-%28Resources-For-LPers%29

Infact that entire forum should be able to have some information for you.

I dont think i want to do a Let's Play. My internet connection couldnt handle uploading a file that size.

I'd like to just post short little gameplay videos i make randomly of like SH3 or IL-2. Some stuff like what Dowly and HunterICX do. I subscribed to their channels. I like their gameplay videos, especially Hunter's LOLwaffles videos.

You can take small videos and then put them together.

I use "VideoPad Video Editor" to combine and compress a few small videos into larger ones before posting them to Ytube.

Also, you can just post small videos to Ytube and then use their editor to combine them if your connection is weak or slow.

I've tried many apps for recording but FRAPS takes the 1st prize easily.
