Is there such a mod out there? I have trouble with TDC plotting even on easy mod for SH5. I would like the simplified TDC type that SH3 had where you lock on a target with you periscope and everything else is taken care of, all you have to do is depress the fire button.

I know, I know...not very sporting and you lose half the fun of the game, but it makes life so much easier for me since there is so much else to learn in the game.

Regards...

Edit: This might be the mod I want, correct?

Use NewUIs with TDC (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1332669&postcount=1). Before enabling it, you should read carefully the instructions on how to configure it to SH3 style.

Alternatively, you might be interested in one of these other fine UI mods: Ui-Boat (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1459155&postcount=1) or CSP Magui Interface (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1619743&postcount=1)

P.S. For easy torpedo solutions you don't need any of these mods. Just enable automatic targeting in game options. Once you lock on target (spacebar) a menu will pop up, asking you if you want to switch the TDC on/off. Switch it off for automatic solution ;)

Thanks for replying. Seems like I have used that exact method only to see my torpedos go off in wild directions. I have automatic targeting checked, and have locked onto target using the spacebar, but I guess I haven't switched off the TDC for an automatic solution. It also seems like when the information is given to me about the ships heading and other information, the speed of the ship always reads 0.

Yep, I forgot to mention that after locking on the target and switching the TDC off, you have to unlock and to aim periscope/uzo onto where you want to hit.

Also, make sure not to upgrade torpedoman speed abilities, since this feature is bugged, and will lead to wrong torpedo solutions. There are several mods that deal with this stock bug by removing the above mentioned ability. Use one of them if you want to be sure not to enable inadvertetly crew's torpedo speed skills.

If you follow these instructions, you should get a 100% hit rate

So lock on target, switch TDC off, then unlock target and aim periscope onto where you want to hit.

When I aim perscope at where I want to hit do I do that before firing the torpedo? Lastly do I have to keep the crosshairs on target throughout the torpedo run, or can I focus on another target?

Sorry for the nub questions but I want to get the SH5 method down pat.

correct

yes, the best way to do it is putting the scope just ahead of your moving target, ready to fire your torpedoes as soon as the crosshair will align with the spot you want to hit. But before doing it, don't forget to flood the tubes and to set speed and detonation method for the torpedoes you want to fire.

Lastly do I have to keep the crosshairs on target throughout the torpedo run, or can I focus on another target?

Not necessarily. After firing you can aim your scope wherever you want.

No problem at all, lepski. We are here to learn :)
