Hello all,

I'm basically new to sub sims. I played SH 1 for many, many, many hours when it first came out. Then I was AWOL from all sims for a long time (no computer that could handle sims). I'm a long time flight simmer (and RL pilot), dabbled in racing sims for a while, do a lot of train simming, and have recently gotten pretty involved in ARMA II. I like hard core simulations and realism is a top priority for me.

I just recently learned the the DRM for SH 5 has been removed. Ordered a copy from Amazon today! I downloaded SH 3 from Steam since it's on the summer sale. I plan to install the GWX mod for it. I'll probably get SH 4 and the U-Boat expansion from Steam during the sale. I'm waiting to see if it drops further.

So, I've lurked this forum and site for quite a while, watched videos, read about the various mods. I thought I'd join up and start participating, and look forward to many enjoyable hours catching up with all the advances and developments for this incredible sim.

Thanks to all. This is a very helpful place. Some of the threads on how to put together a well-modded game for SH5 have been particularly helpful.

Hmmmm....okay, I'm experiencing some downloading strangeness. After joining and posting, I downloaded some mods, but then I started getting a message saying to slow down and wait 29 seconds. I figured I'd hit a daily limit.

Then, I was away for a few days, and today I tried to download a few more mods. But immediately I get the same message. Is there something I should do to reset something?

Trying putting up a post or two then waiting about an hour for the server to sort itself out, that sometimes works.

Well, I posted twice in this thread already, before this recent one, and have posted a question over on the SHIII sub-forum earlier this morning. Should I try to do a couple of more posts?

You can only give it a try I suppose.

Yeah, it's not a "You've exceeded your daily download limit" message. It's a "Slow down, you're trying to download too fast, you have to wait 29 seconds" message. But it always says 29 or 28 seconds, no matter low long I wait. It's pretty strange, but I've figured out a way around that message and just downloaded 4 more mods, so I'm good for now, I think. I've been following the suggestions in Trevally's thread:

Getting ready for when the dvd arrives. :-)

Thanks for the help, though.
