Hi all, I am back with another SH5 issue and I need advice, first I want to say thanks for all the help from Hinrick Schwab, Off The Rails, and Wester last time with my install/uninstall issues. being new to this genre has been an interesting time to say the least. I am having a blast with this game.
Now onto my issue. I got SH5 running all nice and original (blan) and I decided to add some MODs to enhance the experience so I read up on many posts on what MODs work best and I thought I had a stable "soup" choice. I had no troubles with my campaign up until I finished the 2nd mission, oh I am running OH II by the way. After sinking my last merchant I headed back to port to refit and some R&R, only to get awarded a new sub. Yes I thought I better sub to hunt with. Well on my old boat I had some "helpful" mods namely the sound seeking torps from the equipment upgrade MOD. I was about to select the same tops for my new boat only to discover I can't chose any torps in the torp load out screen. Not only is the available tops missing so is the boxes I can drag and drop torps in. When I set out to sea I am fully loaded with regular tops and some horrible electric torps. This must be a bug but I haven't found any info on it in the forums. If anyone can offer assistance I would appreciate it. Thanks. :D

Do you mean all the boxes, or just the external reserves? Also, did you try going back to the last save of your last patrol then re-enter your base.
Quite often if there is a glitch (and there is) I'll do just this. I just ended a patrol yesterday, when I got in to port...no "end patrol" icon. I ran the boat right up to the dock and still nothing, so, I went back to my last save and re-entered the port. I overwrote the last save of the patrol and this time the icon appeared and all was well.
If the problem continues, try a mod reload. I am assuming "equipment upgrades" is your lastactivated mod set, and your using the patches and hotfix folders. I don't think the absence of the hotfix or patch would cause this but hey, better to be safe. :up:
Hope one of these helps and good luck. These things usually get resolved. Post back with any more info if you continue to have problems.

Hi D40, I can't got back to a previous save because I only use one save file (lesson learnt), also equipment upgrade fix was my last MOD installed. I did end up uninstalling all MODs, and the game, a fresh install and started the game to see if there was a difference, unfortunately, all the torp boxes are still missing. So I can only conslude its my save file :wah:. I really don't want to restart casuse this would be my third restart and I really want to move on with the war. I have reloaded most of my original MODs, also tried Magnum Opus this time around just to see if that would create a more stable MOD base, well any time I open up the equipment upgrade screen not only are the torp boxes still missing when I close the windo I get a CTD. :down: I am getting frustrated with this situation so I decide to play on and deal with crappy torps and just avoid equipment upgrades altogether. I was able to finish Total Germany and now just started Happier times. If this problem continues I just going to have to start over AGAIN.

You can edit this yourself:yep:
goto - C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\UPCDataGE\UPCUnitsData\Ammunition.UPC and open it with notepad.
Scroll down to the torps, here is the T7 :-
[Ammunition 19]
ID=T7Torpedo
NameDisplayable=T7Torpedo-Name
Info=T7Torpedo-Info
Notes=T7Torpedo-Notes
Type= AmmoTorpedo
Subtype=T_VII
AmmunitionIntervalOptionCurrent= NULL, NULL, 0
AmmunitionIntervalOptions1= 1938-01-01, 1950-12-31, 0
Volume= 1
PackSize=1
Edit your file to this and the torp will be there from start to end of game (see green) and will be free (see orange)

Hi Trevally,
Would you happen to know where the files are stored for your boat during a campaign? For some reason, whatever type of torpedo is loaded into the stern tube in port, it defaults to the G7a when the patrol starts. Thanks. :/\\!!

Yes - this is a bug with the stern tube - not sure if anyone has tried to fix.
When you look at the files - the only diff from bow to stern is a set date change where another torp type will be loaded as defualt.
Why the torp you load is changed to default torp - I guess will be hard coded.
What you could try is changing the default torp that it loads:-
This is for Type VIIA
go here - C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7a\NSS_Uboat7a.UPCGE and open with notepad.
Look for :-
[UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 1.WeaponSlot 1]
ID= TorpMountS1
NameDisplayable= SternTorpedo-WeaponSlot-Name
Type=NULL
AcceptedTypes= TorpedoTube
UserCustomizable=No
IDLinkBunker=SternTorpedoRoom
IDLinkWeaponIntervalDefault1= NULL, NULL, TorpedoTube533Ger, T1Torpedo
ExternalNodeName3D= NULL
ExternalObjectName3D= NSS_Uboat7a_Door02_B_anim
ExternalDamageZoneTypeID3D= 61
GUIPlaceHolderIndex= 1
GeneralDescription= SternTorpedo-WeaponSlot-General
TechnicalDescription= SternTorpedo-WeaponSlot-Tech
Change green to the torp you want as default.
When changing - ensure that the type you use is available by date.

Well, it didn't work but I'll keep looking for a remedy. Thanks Trevally. BTW, do you know if there's a way to fix the problem of having the radar array showing up on top of the snorkel?

It will only work if you start a new campaign or progress to the next stage.
Like so many files in this sim, they are saved in your Docs so that any change (damage, promotion or upgrade) will be remembered.
So if you are in a type VIIA - you could make this change for the type B,C and 41 for when you get them.
A way to test this would be to make the above change and start a new career to see - if it works you could them do this for all boat types:up:
Radar on snorkel sounds like the equip upgrade mod:06:
You can make them all free, just as you can with SHIII. Change Renoun to 0 for all torps in data/Cfg/Basic. Torps are near the bottom of the page.
You can also change the Renoun cost for Conning towers, Equipement, and so on like you can in SHIII. Just change amount to 0.
Just make sure you do this while In Base, before you start your next patrol.
