Great example of this is i was playing SH4 with OM mod today and got tired of playing that and wanted the USA subs and to see what was new in the Pacific modding forum so i deactivated my mods and went to searching. constant searching and downloading and swapping files here and there til subsim wouldnt let me download anymore. at that point i realized 6 and a half hours went by before i got it all right and finally played it for like 30 minutes before the wifey came home. but some times i cant operate if i dont tweak something in SH and vanilla games just dont have the same taste as a nicely balanced modded SH. lol. this is serious. its bad people!:har:
just thought id share that part of the day with you all, lol. good job to all our modders though. i know what you go through everyday. i had to sell my original computer because it almost lead to a divorce, i ignored my child because i wanted to find and make that next mod that could make SH even better. but its all good. you just have to pull you head outta your bleep! and learn how to "manage" your time. then no one gets abused . goodnight everybody.

I coined a term a few years back. It's called CTD.

Compulsive Tweaking Disorder.

Because your compulsive about tweaking the game files to an extent that you just can't help yourself. The more you know about the game files, the worse the condition is. Unfortunately, the only real cure, is when burnout and boredom set in, and you finally give up Silent Hunter titles altogether.

Sadly yes, I probably spent 90% of the time modding and tweaking rather than playing, burned out, now getting motivated to play again is almost impossible!!:-?

Also once look under the hood, all the magic is gone :shifty: where you once saw a tanker, you now see the contents of a .Dat file, a bunch of text and geometry on a predefined course, with predictable AI :shifty:
You almost end up thinking, 'It doesnt matter if dont sink it, it will only despawn once it reaches port anyway.'

Seriously. One can observe anything in the game, and all that comes across the mind is what mechanics/variables are in play at that particular moment in time. Playing becomes pointless. Other people see ships, targets, submarine action at sea, you see what's tantamount to a bunch of 0's and 1's.

yes CTD, ive seen that in your readmes before. its true though i took a year break and i find myself going in and out again but then i tell myself back off for alittle while. i probably wont have a "search and download" rampage like that for a couple of weeks, lol.

Precisely why im not a modder. :D I'll just let others do that for me and make do with what is made. It may be good, it may be bad. Either way, I cant complain. Because i am not a modder.
