My personal "Tops It All" of the year so far.

LINK (http://www.faithfreedom.org/features/news/men-should-be-allowed-sex-slaves-and-female-prisoners-could-do-the-job-and-all-this-from-a-woman-politician-from-kuwait/)

Kuwait - no surprise. A woman - well... at least tells a lesson on the power of ideology.

Yep, just found that and wanted to add it, but you beat me. I skim both sides only occassionally - too much anger, blood pressure too much in danger.

Well to be fair King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. But that was over 2000 yrs ago.

"By Daily Mail Reporter (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/search.html?s=y&authornamef=Daily+Mail+Reporter)"...when a story is so good even the Daily Mail won't put someones name to it:rotfl2:
Maybe its just a blip on the scale of reliability, but oh no, both sites which are linked to have Fjordman listed as one of their writers, 'nuff said.

I skim both sides only occassionally - too much anger, blood pressure too much in danger.
You should avoid those sites if you get too angry like you do, they are there to be laughed at not to be making your blood boil...oopps wrong, they are there to make your blood boil and should be laughed at.
It isn't surprising that any decent criticisms of Islam you have get buried within a pile of other nonsense.
Small tip on a sensible approach

A Kuwaiti woman who once ran for parliament...

She's not even a politician? Not even in a position to make this a reality?

Come on now. You can get all spun up over lots of things actual politicians say without having to resort to being outraged over things non-politicians say. This is just some fear mongering newspaper holding up some lunatic's idea and saying "SEE! SEE! THIS IS WHAT MUSLIMS BELIEVE! FEARFEARFEARFEARSCARYBROWNPEOPLE"

I once saw a candidate that wanted to ban the hunting of Polar Bears in the British Lake district.
This is serious stuff, attack those Brits and save the polar bears in errrrr......call Palin to shoot the English bears we need to stand against these extremists or we will be swamped in the tide of ursine infidels with their secret breeding program, they even have their dhimmi bears like yogi trying to convince helpful fools that they are only after the enjoyment of a picnic

You realy want to know who fears who then read some ME Arab liberal or equivalent newspapers...i suppose there is no racist agenda in them.
If talking about fear then there is a lot of fear due to Arab spring in between secular Arabs and lite Muslims.
The above examples are peripheral but mainstream political Islam is not so promising too...actually bad enough.

My personal concern is how it would be possible to get along with all that and not the other way.

Ah, the "It's just an exception from the wanted rule, it is all harmless, it is all misled and misunderstood" phase has begun. One day - not bad.

Those questioning the source: it was in many sources. Google -> "Salwa al Mutairi".

Further research also may reveal to the interested that slavery and sex-abuse of priosners is nothing new in Islam, and is being practised until today. Usually they are just not so dumb to make the public media aware of it, but keep it as a dirty little secret. Ocasionally some criminal case makes it to court when some Muslim migrant couple get caught over having held a babysitter or household aid as a slave and abused and whipped her.

But this is rare, and as we all know, it has nothing to do with Islam at all. That they claim it to be their Islamic right to have slaves just shows how distorted their view and understanding of Islam is.

Syria btw has been nominated for the free seat in the human rights panel of the UN next year. Due to Islamic pressure groups, it is the hot favourite - with acceptance of the US that shied away from the immense pressure of Muslim and rogue regimes. You know, the human rights panel of the UN. That is the one panel which has this interesting text in its working rules that every meeting must mandatorily include a mentioning of the Palestinian conflict and desirably a condemnation of Israelas well, no matter what the issue was that the meeting originally has been called out over. You meet to discuss the massacring of christians in Nigeria, and end up with crying for Palestine and condemning Israel. You meet to discuss Libya, and end up with crying over Palestine and condemning Israel. You meet to discuss Syria, and end up with crying over Palestine and condemning Israel. You meet to discuss whether tea or coffee is prefarrably served at breakfast, and you end up crying over Palestine and condemning Israel.

Grrrrreat rules! I want such rules for my own interests, too!

Like the Arab media that said, (from the very article Skybird linked to, no less)

For Muna Khan, an editor at the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television station, the "icing on the cake" of Mutairi's "preposterous views" was her assertion that her suggestions do not conflict with the tenets of Islam.

But anyways, you can find all sorts of viewpoints in any media to support whatever side you want. If you wanted to say Americans were hateful bigots, you could find plenty of stuff to support that. If you wanted to say we were compassionate and wonderful people, you could find stories to support that view.

Still, that's all besides the point. A person who isn't a politician or in any sort of position of power at all spouting off some stupid extremist viewpoint isn't news. If it were, some of the posters here in GT would be in the papers every day.

All this sort of "story" is is just a way for one side to feel self righteous and to reaffirm their beliefs without using any sort of critical thinking skill at all.

Yes, women should be allowed to buy foriegn husbands, it would widen the gene pool in Kuwait and improve the divorce rates as Kuwaiti men are such pigs and some women prefer lighter skin
Your source is a little kooky isn't she.:yep:

Did you ever think of questioning the source before you went on a "oh no its the moosleeems" trip?

Repalce the word Islam with anything else and your angle disdappears along with your complaint. If you wanted to complain about slavery sex abuse and prisoners go ahead, its a bloody big subject which covers the world, but you only want to complain because its directed at a group you hate.

Make your mind up, one minute you are telling us that the tyrant is great as he is a heretic apostate leader of a secular state who is under threat of overthtrow by the islamic horde so he must be preserved as a bulwark against the muslims, the next minute you are trying to say the crazy dictator is supported by the islamic horde:doh:
Do you ever wonder why your rants about muslims are such a joke?:nope:

its not surprising you have to live in the land of ignorance, the truth would make your blood boil so much with facing your own contradictions your head would explode

.

This one has clear agenda but still could be very one of them...there are jordanian Saudi Egyptian papers...the best actually is authentic mainstream Islamic media if you want some really nutty stuff.:rotfl2:
Sometimes it can be unbelievable....also remember that English speaking versions are usually more moderate for westerners fragile minds...even or foremost(?) the al jazeera's popular "moderate" news station.

As some people may not comply with our current Islamic legal system, we must regard 9 as being the appropriate age for a girl to have reached puberty and qualified to get married. To do otherwise would be to contradict and challenge Islamic Sharia law."

Add some coffee shops and they are set for business.

Think additional sanctions are needed.

I presume we're already sanctioning Yemen then? It's legal at any age to get married and there was a ten year old divorce not so long ago.

So you have an article from an American evangelical crowd who are an offspin from another "convert them all" blog.
So they found someone who made a comment.
Isn't it amazing that after all those years of totalitarian theocracy and 33 years of crazy Ayatollahs the legal age in Iran is still 16, surely if it was that important or even that real they would have lowered it many many years ago:doh:

I wonder if this law is actually taken seriously...in many ME countries such laws can be just recommendations...not that i feel like to argue about this anyway.
