ok, so me and my buddy have been trying to play sh4 for a few months and we've only got it to work ONCE, but we dont know what we did. we've searched every possible website with a "fix" and nothing worked, port fowarding doesnt work, hamachi doesnts work (neither does tunggle) we keep getting the 999 as a ping, it makes me wana scream and flip my desk over! ( new paragraph) So, did you guys get it to work? if so, can i get a dumb'ed down version of a "how to get it to work" please? I hate to spent money on a game and not be able to play it. And btw, just and fyi, so many problems with all this because ubisoft doesnt support the game anymore due to "lack of player interest"

First: Welcome to the forums :)
Second: Please post your system data, otherwise it would be guessing about fog :hmm2:

Sorry for the weird typing, i had to copy and paste it though him and he didn't get the hints =P

Computer specs tbh aren't the issue though, we can both run the game fine, i have a GTX 530 and Medina has 2 processors with no GPU

Exact post from a ubisoft dev (same exact response as the first one)

"Dan,

Unfortunately, this game is no longer available for play online due to lack of player interest."

Someone post this. Never tried MP, if you have to go through Ubisoft, maybe this will work.

"Do not use any automatic password imputter for the Ubisoft Forum. Disable it."

Looked for it, but that post is 3-4 years old and I couldn't find that option.

we've tried LAN too, and the game just doesn't show up, tried to port foward and open up firewall's.

Tried using with hamachi and tunngle.

1 make sure its and same version ... 1.4, 1.5??
2 make sure you have the same mods in the same order
3 check your latency upon creating the game should be much.

READ THIS THREAD ON MP:

We both have the same version and we have no mods. Whoever is hosting is says they have a 1 ping, but when the other guy tries to connect, it says 999.

And i'm not opening anymore ports since it doesn't work.

Version is 1.5

And do you guys use mumble/vent/ts3 or anything? I hate having to wait for a reply =(
It would be easier if i could just talk to someone direct.

Any other ideas?

I guess that no1 cares for multiplayer then anymore and there isn't a fix.

I have successfully run lan/wan games between me and a friend of mine. I have never used ubi.com nor do I have any reason to use any third-party connection programs. I have run both stock and RFB megamod games. If one player is showing a ping of >999, then there is a port conflict of some kind on one of the machines. If it is not the firewall or the port forwarding settings on the router, then it is likely a firewall setting on one of the other computers. Are the other players running any third-party software-based firewalls or other protective/blocking software?

Nope, do both/all players have to port forward though? or just the host?

I posted a link on MP for the game did you read it and open the ports required?

I did and it didn't work, but do ALL players need to?
