So, does hiding in the bushes do anything at all? Can the enemy see you as soon as you see him? What consitutes when players can detect each other?

Hiding in bushes iirc does give you an advantage he won't detect you untill he gets too close, you fire of a shot or moved.

Stay at least 15m back for full effect.

purchase a camo-net and you can stay hidden at shorter ranges, and be hidden again quicker after firing/ moving....

It's only a 25% increase, and it's relative to the coefficiant of the vehicle. A 25% increase in camo on a maus will only lower detection range by a few meters, on a stug, 60 meters.

My uprated StuG has camo-trained crew (all 4) and the camo net installed. They are all up to 52-54% now and I'm seeing quite an improvement in the range I'm getting detected. I've had scouts drive right past me, but if my barrel is sticking out of the bushes they can see me from a mile away. it's a tricky thing but very useful if you understand it.

I wish my internet was better so I could play again :wah:

Also remember to angle your armor at a decent angle. (though some tanks dont work this way, EX the is 7 has a pike armor setup, try to go in as straight as possible.)

Also remember that different tanks need different approaches.

Anyone know how the camo paint helps and or crew member skilled in camo?

Camo skills do make a difference, camo paint I don't know but I have noticed that the very skilled players don't often use it. Camo Net and and skilled camo crew seem to be best.
