Snowbird Studios, the ones behind M&B With Fire & Sword are working on a pirate themed game called Caribbean! that uses the M&B engine.

Looks....intriguing. :hmmm:

We'll have to wait and see how things develop, but I am interested.

Sounds awesome. I think this may well be that realistic pirating game that I've been waiting for long now. To be fair, I'm not sure how far they're going to go in modeling the finer details of naval combat, but as far as swashbuckling and melee combat, it's a great match and M&B has always been about the right scale to model a fully-crewed ship. I hope they do a good job.

Superb! Since Sid Meier's Pirates! there has been no decent pirate game and that has always bugged me. Hopefully this will change things.

I did like the fact that we see mounted combat. That was easily the best part of M&B. It also seem that the general combat system returns, which is great because it is, in my opinion, the best in gaming today.

I'm sure that we will see dynamic weather, as that has been in every game thus far, but I hope that dynamic sea states will be included. While the water looks very nice, it shouldn't always be a sea of glass.

I am somewhat concerned about what appears to be the simplified ship-to-ship combat. The combat seemed very fast-paced, with at points 10 seconds between volleys from the same deck and side. The damage model does seem simplistic as well. I am happy to see an inclusion a weather gage of sorts, but it also seems rather watered-down. Things could change before release though.

As far as graphics go, if you are playing this sort of game for graphics then you are doing it wrong.

If I were to give a grade, I'd give the footage above a B. Looks very promising.
