I am a lifelong fan of the movies. ( I own every one :D ) I thought I'd like to talk about my favorite movie series with my friends at Subsim. Are there any other extreme, die-hard, Bond fans here? Or is it strictly submarines? Even if its undersea action you want, Thunderball is a great undersea Bond movie. Its also my favorite one, so, no hating on it. :O:
Haters of James Bond should just leave... :nope:
Just started watching through all the movies maybe a month ago or so, next
up is License to Kill.
Used to like ALL the movies as a kid, but I have to say that watching the Roger
Moore ones now, they aren't very good compared to the other Bonds. :hmmm:

I own all of them as well. For my money, the best Bonds in order:
1. Connery
2. Moore
2. Lazenby
3. Craig
4. Brosnan
5. Dalton

Moore was a great Bond, but they stuck him with those cornball 70s scripts.

3. Brosnan
4. Moore

I like Craig and Brosnan about equal. Lazenby shouldnt count. He was in one movie. The greatest are the Connery movies. I just watched You Only Live Twice last night. Tonight, im going to watch Dr. No. I cant wait for Skyfall to come out, but nobody can beat Connery. :know:

Part of my feeling of life back in those years, 80s, and 90s. I do not claim them holy nor am I a fundamentalist fan, but I am a sympathiser, and I find them entertaining time and again. watching nthem brings bad that old feeling of how life was back then for me, when I saw them first. In Berlin, there were two small cinemas in the old (now gone and replaced) Kudamm-Eck where they showed year for year all Bond movies exclusively, in weekly rotation.
First Bond movie I ever saw was For your eyes only.
Best Bond title theme also from that movie, by lovely Sheena Easton. Also the best title entry ever, imo. Best ending title for me was "If there was a man" by The Pretenders, I think, that song still is on my mind, it is beautiful and the theme was present in the movie as well. Best Bond actor? I have no clear favourite, but I liked Brosnan's way of doing the role, it somehow fit well. Casino Royal with Daniel Craig is the closest literature adapatation, of course, and Craig was the best Bond ever if seen by that criterion only. "Golden eye" is one that I also liked more than most others.
The second Craig-Bond was bad, imo. Too over-actioned, it simply became boring. Dr. No I also did not like - too under-actioned. :)
And Diana Rigg's appearance, and the tragic ending. Good role she had, seeing it the first time really blew a sting to my heart. Not before later Sophie Marceau boarded the franchise had the Bond movies such a complex female major role implemented again.
Best Bond actor? I have no clear favourite, but I liked Brosnan's way of doing the role, it somehow fit well.

Brosnan takes the #1 spot on my list, just as you said: He fit the role very well.
And have to agree with GE as well, really like that one.
I'm still mixed about Graig, his Bonds have been quite forgettable. :hmmm:

I've got all the films too, even the unofficial ones.
I also have all the Ian Fleming Bond Novels as well, I must say if you are a fan of the films you must read the original novels. It might effect your future viewing of the films, but at least the novels go into greater detail about Bond and are rarely ever repetitive unlike the films.
Look at The Spy who Loved me and Moonraker, two good films yet they both have exactly the same plot, both of the villans want to destroy mankind and replace them with their own master race, except one has his base under the sea and the other has his in outer space. You would think they would wait a few years to try and do the same story again, but Moonraker followed right after The Spy who Loved me!
Although, they both have Jaws in them. :hmm2:

Jaws is just a misunderstood henchmen. Oddjob, well he's up there on my most hated sidekicks list because of how hard he was to hit in Golden Eye on the N64.
I enjoy the movies, they can be good or bad, it's a good way to kill a couple of hours with a decent set of actors, some more suited for Bond than others. Still haven't seen all of them though. Never sat through Goldfinger from start to finish, or a couple of the Blofield Bonds.
Connery Bond for life from me. Nothing beats his take on the character imo.

Moonraker.....Good? :06: Those two words should never be spoken in the same sentence. I thought it was terrible. Too many laser gun fights. Except for the laser gun parts, it was decent. Thunderball and Diamonds are Forever will be my favorites for years to come. :D

Everyone forgets that Connery should be listed twice.
After all there was his brother Neil who played the role... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14Mfmn7vN4g) :haha:

Hmm, I'm a huge bond fan.
My favorite james bond film is actually Never Say Never Again
Now I don't like Craig, he is too serious to play Bond. Come on, I expect the bad gags, and the cheesy puns.
Now this is where all the british taxes went:

1. Connery
2. Craig
3. Lazenby
4. Bronsan
5. Dalton
76. Moore
Craig gets high marks because I like serious Bond more than cheeseball Bond. And as such, Roger Moore comes in 76th.

My top Bond list
1. Connery
2. Brosnan
3. Moore
4. Craig
5. Dalton
6. Lazenby
Brosnan gets up there because I enjoyed all his movies, except Die another day. I do like Craig's serious take on Bond too but he's only been at it for 2 movies so far. And they need the gadgetry and a Q figure back in them to be rated higher for me.
While we're on the topic. Favorite gadgets in the Bond series anyone?
Red October1984

I pretty much like anything Q handed to Connery Bond or Brosnan Bond. Every once in a while, theres a really good one that Moore Bond gets.
Never Say Never Again is a terrible, non-official, piece of @#!$ remake of Thunderball. I have it, but its down there hanging out with Moonraker. Not very good. Watch Thunderball, you'll like it better. :O:
Craig Bond has some room to grow here, give him a chance. :D I think he's good.
We've established favorite Bonds...Now we gotta do Gadgets and Movies. Which were the best? :hmm2:

I started reading the books right after I first saw Doctor No back in 1962. Because of that the movies for me get progressively worse the further they get from the novels. For me it's not the acting but the writing. As far as I'm concerned Casino Royale was the first movie worth watching since Goldfinger.

Those saying Craig is too serious, overlook that the relaunch of the franchise was done on the basis of bringing the film closer to the real Bond as described in the books. Maybe it is fairer to complain about that they have done this, closing the gap to the Bond from the Books. Craig just fits into that, and one should give him credits for how he did it. His Bond is the closest to the books.

:yep:
The parody action movie style was given up and some plot returned.

Connery
Moore
Lazenby
Craig
Brosnan
Dalton
:sign_yeah:
Just like this, I only put Lazenby behind Moore, the penalty for just starring in one flick.
Oddly, subsim seems to be in clear favor of Connery, while among my friends it's about 50:50 Connery vs. Moore.
However the best movie was with Moore, also his first:
Live And Let Die
It also featured the hottest Bond girl of all times: Solitaire :yep:
Actors:
1) Connery
2) Dalton
3) Brosnan
Films:
1) You only live twice
2) Goldfinger
3) The Living Daylights
4) Goldeneye
I think the thing that ties all the Bond movies together and keeps that level of awesomeness between them though lies not with the actors or the writers but with this chap:

They're all great sunday afternoon flicks but I'd have to go with OHMSS as top - an ending never seen again in a Bond flick (and don't forget the Angels of Death ). As for Bonds -
1 Connery
2 Moore
3 Brosnan
Moore is up there I think purely for quantity, and cheese. :O:

1. Connery
2. Craig
3. Moore
4. Brosnan
5. Dalton
6. Lazenby
Even though he got the early, cheesy scrips there are lines such as 'yesh Mish Moneypenny' that will forever stick in the mind.
Bond girls:
Vesper Lynd (Eva Green)
Onatopp (Famke Janssen)
Solitaire (Jane Seymour)
Octopussy (Maud Adams)
Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman, and what a great character name!)

QoS had some trouble with the writer's strike during production. Skyfall is looking promising though :)

I have most of the movies on the Classics set of VHS's from the 80's. Makes for a nice feel while watching.

I LOVED never say never again, more than thunderball I might add
It is funny, the dialog was great!
Come on now, view it differently, don't think of it as a serious movie, but as a more comedic take instead. The dialog in the movie cracked me up

That is actually a variation of the '007 Theme' which, as I recall, was played while Bond and Tatiana were being chased in the boats. That was the scene in which he kick three or four drums of gasoline overboard and shoots them with a flare gun. There were about 20 explosions!
