Therein lies the problem with subsims, you can't just stop at the next station down the line, just keep looking for that next convoy or lone vessel wanting to be put out of the misery of the North Atlantic (or Pacific if you're SH4!).

I saw a lp'er, Jefmajor, playing sh4 and it looked like a lot of fun. I downloaded it the same day and started playing. I was trying to find some tips on manual targeting and found this site. I also served in the Navy on an aircraft carrier, and "died" a few times to subs in the war games we played out in the Med, so I'm very happy to have found a sim to try to take down carriers myself :)

Ive been a silent hunter fan for years, first fired a torp when i was around 12/13 yr old. must of been silent hunter 1 or 2, cant remember. im a major fan of GWX, love it. im just trying to mod soup SH5 atm, see if its a rival for it or not. I'm guessing not yet though.

Anyway, love this site and to all modders, keep up all the brilliant work, without you Ubi wouldnt have a fan base to release future SH titles. hope to be contributing soon, gotta get my head around 3ds first, am getting there slowly, lol. See you all around matey's :up:

I have found a great programe that plays any windows game on a mac without shuting it down and going to boot camp.
Its called parrallels 7.

I played a lot when it was SH2 and Destroyer Command, adversarial and all that; but co-op multiplay? Doesn't interest me. Real u-boat kaleuns couldn't communicate during the attack anyway.

Bought SH5 when it originally came out but only played it a short while then. I shelved it because of all the problems the release had were just too frustrating for me. I can be a bit high-strung. Reinstalled a couple of days ago and started poking around the web to see what was up. Ran across these forums and I can only say, "remarkable". What the community, and modders in particular, have created is wonderful. Your creations make me wonder how the game could have been released in such a lackluster state originally.

Like most subsim players i've allways been fascinated by submarines, their roll and importance (especially in WW2) and the way they operate.
I've absolutely no experience as a submariner, but viewing the Youtube SH4 series from WhiteOwl i have gotten hooked. So i've bought SH4 (very cheap at a retail store) and i'm getting started now. This site/forum was mentioned with one of the video's and so i've joined this forum. I'll probably only loiter in the beginning as i first need to learn a lot. Many questions which i have now (or will have later on) are probably already answered in some thread or another. No sense in asking questions which have already been asked a zillion times before. Therefor i will commence by reading, reading and even more reading.
By the way, the reason why i got hooked by the video's by WhiteOwl is because of his effort to play it as realistic as possible (with only a little cheating on the side :)). I intend to play SH4 in the same way.
