Back in the day I used to really like hunting games. I loved the Deer Hunter series. The latest one I had was Deer Hunter 3, but I don't have it anymore. I still have Deer Hunter 2, but that doesn't work well with XP. Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter don't work, either. I tried doing a search for hunting games, but haven't really found anything useful. Anything from ValuSoft is an automatic no. :dead: I've seen numerous Cabela's titles, but those seem to be for console only. Are there any good PC hunting games left?

comes to mind. It has a reduced feature free to play option to check it out. How it compares to other hunter games I don't know. I only know this one.

Definately thehunter that game is top notch and they work on it all the time, bringing new animals to hunt, new hunting reserves, weapons, equipment etc.
But: Its pay to play unfortunately :shifty:

Thanks for the replies. :) I did come across The Hunter in my searching yesterday. The game looks really nice. I should have mentioned it in my post; but I'm kind of thinking more along the lines of a boxed, retail version.

Well, then forget about thehunter and grab the old DH series... what was the last? 2005? Jeez, time is going by...
All other hunting games I know are just crap in my opinion...:nope:

After reading some more I think I'll just get The Hunter. I may try and get Deer Hunter 2005 off Amazon. Not sure though. The reason I didn't want The Hunter is it is a 1GB download. My ISP has strict usage caps now. I have to have someone else with a better connection download what I used to be able to. :/\\!!

I didn't try it myself, but had read a very positive review on thehunter. I never played any hunt game, but that review almost convinced me.
You may appreciate the social aspect about it (hunt statistics sharing, ...).

The Hunter is nice, think I held on to my status as warden for a year or 3. At 45,- a year it's pretty cheap, about the same as buying a new yearly edition like with other hunting games.
Gave it up though, wasn't really playing anymore so not much point in keeping a subscription going. Really enjoyed it for a good while, stalking through the forest, listening carefully for calls, tracking through footprints and droppings. And of course, hopefully, that single well-placed shot.
