When trying to download from this thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093
I keep getting this error...??:/\\!!

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 11417 bytes) in /home/subsimc/public_html/radioroom/showthread.php on line 1275

It seems the solution might be the following?
That error indicates that your php doesn't have enough memory allocated to complete the operation. You can either increase your memory_limit setting in php.ini to xxM (something larger than what you currently have) or to temporarily up your limits edit your includes/config.php file and add this line right under the <?php line:

ini_set("memory_limit", "xxM");

(You can view your current memory_limit in Maintenance > View PHP Info . If it's 16M, try 32M. If it's 32M, try 64M. If it's 64M, try 92M or 128M, etc.) Is this a common error had by many or is my PC having a melt down with all the downloads that I have done?:hmm2:

clean it up, run disk cleaner and run a defrag to get rid of all that stored data you dont need then if your hdd is maxed out check the "compress data to save space" option or buy another hdd

I have wiped my drives I even cleaned the dishes..Vacuumed the floor..Still a no go..
However I did some research and this is what I found.

This error clearly indicates that PHP scipt running short of memory. One can view the allowed memory size through C Panel. Most of the hosts doesn't allow to edit php.ini.
you can insert the following statement in your settings.php
ini_set('memory_limit', '64M');
You can use 128M instead of 64M.

Sounds like an internal fix...Over to you Neal...:salute:

Not sure what is causing that, have you tried using Chrome or FF?

It seems to me that this problem is related to mine..I found this on the VB forum.
Funny enough it happens only when I try to open large threads with many thousands of posts.:/\\!!

I had a member complain about this error two weeks ago, but since I couldn't duplicate it, I wasn't able to resolve it.

I received the following error when trying to post a thread today. The message suggested that maybe my PHP memory limit is too small but three things perplexed me.

First it crashed on a function in search.php so I'm curious why its using it when trying to post.

Second, the forum wasn't real busy (55 members and 400 guests) and I have had lots more on the forum posting without incident.

Finally, and this doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It appears to happen when the length of the subject is too long. (Such as when the characters start to scroll in the subject box)

FYI: MySQL Packet Size 1,023.0 KB

Help would be truly appreciated!

Your PHP does not have enough memory allocated to it to complete this operation. Ask your host to increase the 'memory_limit' varible in php.ini to 32M.

To temporarily up your limits edit your includes/config.php file and add these lines right under the <?php line:

ini_set('memory_limit', 32 * 1024 * 1024);
