What kind of function are you looking for in your Mods, Graphical, Gameplay, Difficulty? Realism?

There are mods that can have an effect on all pf these gave a look at the catagaries here and look for some you like the look at.

As you dont yet have the U-Boat Missions you may want to start from the back of the mods Page and work your way from there to the newer section as most of the newer posts and updates will be in Ver. 1.5

That said are you using Ver. 1.3 *What you get if you buy SH4 From Steam* or 1.4?

The mods are limited as to what you can use, since the 1.5 Uboat missions add on changed much of the game files and most mods available today are geared toward the 1.5 version of the game. Some mods can be used for older versions of the game, but you will have to try them, as it is hit and miss as to what will and won't work. If a mod makes the game crash, it isn't compatible, so you'll just have to see what will and won't work. But the 1.5 add on is dirt cheap these days, so if you run into too many issues, it isn't prohibitve to pick up as far as cost goes.

There are four different supermods, five if you count the u-boat one, and hundreds of add-ons. They all affect different aspects of the game. As Littica Marek said, what you need depends on what you want out of the game.

Or, as I've been quoted as saying, One gamer's "must-have" is another gamer's waste of time.

I play RFB (Real Fleet Boat) and RSRDC (Run Silent Run Deep Campaign). RFB aims to model the Fleetboats to be as realistic as possible, and RSRDC is a traffic mod that scripts ship traffic as it was historically.

I'm not saying these are better than any other, but they are good choices. You will need v1.5 of the game to use the latest RFB mod.
