OK, with all the wailing and gnashing of teeth I've had trying to get my old SF copy of SH3 to run,(fail), I knee-jerked and ordered a copy of SH4, still to arrive... thinking now... can I run it, it is the 'Gold' edition. My machine, an intel core i3 2.4 , intel HD 3000 graphics, 4 gig ddr3 ram... on a lappy. Should it run? What kinds of new headaches can I expect? Should I just launch an acoustic torp now and go full left rudder at flank speed until it takes me out? Oh yeah, running Win7 home premium, 64 bit.....:hmmm:

I have been running SH 4 V1.5 on a W-7 64 operating system for several months with no noticeable problems. Operating system wise should be OK. Others here have suggested installing it in it's own file. Not in the programs file. I have taken their advice. Not sure about the graphics set up on your rig. Give it a shot

As far as Windows 7, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to run SH4 on that OS. Many members here run it on Wondows 7 without so much as a hiccup. I've been running it on Vista (similar to Windows 7) for years and have never had to even reinstall SH4, not once.:smug:

Runs like glass on my Win7. And I don't even have an aftermarket card on my 1 month old HP.

Go to the discount bin of any store and pick up a new copy of SH3, it is SF free:up:. The old (SF) version of SH3 is 32 bit SF and won't run on a 64 bit system. I bought the new version (SH3) and it runs great. I bought the lates version of SH4 and I've had no issues running it on my system. (64bit win7)
Runs even better with large Address Aware mod (http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112556)
I've been running SHIV 1.5 with many mods on my MacPro with Win 7 in Bootcamp, and on native Mac OS (10.6 ?) using Wineskins. The LAA mod eliminated some CTDs. Everything runs very well.
Go for it!
