WOW, WOW, WOW

An amazing graphics mod.....the things you can find to look at while navigating out of the port is amazing.

I'm attempting to get out of Wilhemshaven, and cought up with all the "eye cand", and managed to cause 50 % damage to my ship, as I ran into the LOCKS.

Can someone help me figure out the proceedure for departing port? As to not completely destroy my sub even before I hit open water??

Thanks.

Approach the lock gates at 1-2 knots and allow plenty of stopping distance (you can go astern to stop quicker).

When the gates open, don't go mad with acceleration, 1-2 knots should suffice in getting you through and able to stop comfortably at the second set of gates.

After a few minutes those gates behind you will close and those in front of you will open so open up the throttle to to 5-6 knots and your now in the navigation channel...good hunting http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Thank you! Can NOT wait to get my new career started with these great mods active.

While I was having trouble with my SH III install I spent some time playing SH 5. Perfectly good version, but with the MODS available on SH III, why bother.

The eye candy in this mod alone is spectacular.

Thank you Jimbuna!

Another quick question.

Is the "land" showing up on my Nav map, in the area of the new Wilhemshafen port actually no longer land? I should use the newly modded locks and channels as my guide to what is really h2o?

I guess it's gonna take some getting used to. I got 50% of the way thru the lock, when the gates closed on me and my boat.

Exited mission, not getting to out of the harbor, let alone to patrol grid.

I did what you said and approaced at 1-2 kts, and made my way thru @ 1, but that obviously was not enough speed.

Sit outside the gate and watch the lights/flags (Kiel has flags). As soon as it changes get ready. The instant the gate starts to open proceed at two knots. You should be just past the gate when it starts to close again. Go to 'All Stop' and you should coast to a stop before you reach the other gate. If you think you're too close hit 'Reverse Slow' (6 on the keyboard). The instant you start to slow hit 'All Stop' again, so you don't start backing up. When the other gate opens hit 'Ahead 2/3' and you'll be on your way.

Understand that this is more art than science. You need to get a feel for it. In real life they opened the gate and left it open until you were in the middle of the lock. The game can't do that, so it has to have a timer. It gets very easy after awhile.

And I would certainly never attempt to confirm it for you. :D

I'm too busy attempting to hide my own. :haha:

How did you guys get the lock gates on yours. I have St. Naz and Schleuse. It has the locks... But no gates

Which version? Version 6 has them.

Is there a link to it? I couldn't tell what version the one I grabbed was. It's the one from your downloads link on your profile page

Edit: Found it Sailor Steve. I had the wrong mod!

There is a v7 with a few more bit ie: the WAC and LSH bridges on the canal.

Anybody knows the download link for v7?

Be warned: It's based on the LSH3 files, and Kiel is radically different from what you're used to in GWX. If you installed v6 with JSGME or if you've never used St Naz, you should be okay. If you installed v6 directly you may have to do a complete reinstall of SH3 and GWX to get v7 to work properly.

If your using SH3 Commander you may have the start at sea option enabled.

No, you did nothing wrong. It has you start next to a tender. There is another sub tied up on the other side. I don't know if it changes later, as I haven't played a campaign in awhile.

I see. That's what that ship was. Now that's cool! Yeah, that makes sense now, Steve. In "Operation Drumbeat" by Michael Gannon, he talks about Hardegen's U-boat being in the sub pens at Lorient for refit and repairs, but then it would dock with the Isere for crew pick up and departure.

That is really cool. I've never read it. Thanks for the info.
