In spite of weather mods, the rate of change of the weather can not impress me and doesn't seem realistic. The weather report almost always tells me the wind is from one and the same direction at 0 knots. The navigator always tells me that the weather is improving, but I don't see it. And when it ever does change, it seems the changes are for ever (days and days of fog or rain).
It almost seems like the weather is kind of hardcoded in the sim and there's not much the mods can do about it.
But please, by all means, correct me if I'm wrong.

Think I'm in the same boat with you on this one. My weather changes more often now with a couple of Mods...which helps...but its hard for me to get over some things...like being in Fog and seeing stars on the horizon.... How do you get the navigator to "tell you" the weather is improving?

I Have not seen Heavy fog yet...so I'm kind of waiting to see that.

Hey Kaleuns,
Try Dynamic Environment. It's the bomb. Weather changes a lot. It also is dependent on where you are and what time of year. It's very, very dynamic and has many extras for enhanced user set-up. The graphics are...well on my machine, I still can't believe this game was capable of coaxing this degree of graphics, you'll laugh at the tutorial mission after loading this up...

Dog,

What made you choose Dynamic Enviro vice Real Enviro?

FinchOU,

The navigator tells me a very short forecast (like "the weather is improving"), when I click "reports" and then click "weather". However due to some kind of bug or something, he also tells me the weather forecast when I click "report fix via celestial" when in daylight. He obviously can't get a delestial fix in daylight, but why he replaces that with a weather forecast beats me.

B.t.w.: Like Dog I also use the Dynamic Environment, but the rate of change can't really impress me so far. The graphics however do, for sure.

Diggeer57,

Celestial sun sights can and are frequently made in the real world and, if you're using Trevally's automation MOD's and real navigation, in SH5 too.

quink99,

You're right about that. But:
I have both of those MOD's installed, stiil the navigator makes no celestial sights and instead gives me the weather forecast (which by the way never seems to change and the wind is coming from straight north at 2 m/sec for days on end).
Don't know what's wrong. Could it be a question of installing these MOD,s (amongst others) in the wrong order? I'll check it anyhow.

Digger57,

Do you have the MOD, New UIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith, installed and enabled? Then if you have Real Navigation which came with TDW's mentioned MOD installed, on the Officer's panel, click open the Navigator. There you'll find an icon which wiill allow you to make a celestial sight or, under reports, have him do it for you.

There is no way to get the weather info via the scriptmanager thus the only way I can get the weather info is to ask for it and then parse it looking for the items I need. That is why you always get a weather forecast when asking for a celestial fix :yep:

DarkWraith,

The way you put it, tempts me to believe it's completely plausible, but I don't really understand a word of what you mean by your explanation.
Blame me! I'm only a simple doctor.
