On Monday, China's SSE Composite Index fell by 64.89 points.

The opening index marked at 2346.98.

the massacre on the Tian'anmen took place on June 4th, 1989

6-4-89 <-> 64.89

Now read 2346.98 reverse: 89.6423. Again the same date: 1989, June, 4th - - and 23 years ago.

The state reacted to increased discussion of this in Chinese forums. All references to the numbers 23 and 46 got blocked, also all references to "stock exchange Shanghai"

Doubtful, also doubtful is this. Strange coincidences can happen with numbers.

Not so amazing I think. If it was 89.6423 straight, than that is something else, but if you have to turn it around to get the "secret message" then to me it isn't anything.

Pure coincidence. There's 936 stocks that make up the Shanghai Stock Exchange index. You'd have to coordinate the closing prices of each and every one of them, in any one of numerous permutations given their index weightings, in order to get to the desired index value. In order to do that, you'd have to coordinate the thousands upon thousands of daily bids and offers on every stock so that they would come up with a certain closing price.

It's an astronomical coincidence, but a coincidence nonetheless.

We do not know if it was a manipulation in order to form a protest, that got cleverly hidden to delay unveiling by the police a little bit.

But sure as hell it is protest right now. :DL The internet censorship the police activated, speaks volumes.

The Chinese government certainly hopes it is NOT a coincidence. Must be a bad feeling to learn that even the universe is against oneself. :D

Besides 23 in reverse being 32, they also switched from the American date format in the first number to the Chinese one in the second... :hmmm:
