Many animal lovers find it hard to part with their pets when they die.
So when cat Orville, named after the famous aviator Orville Wright, was run over by a car, his artist owner decided to turn him into a permanent piece of artwork as the ultimate tribute by transforming him into a flying helicopter.
Dutch artist Bart Jansen first stuffed Orville before teaming up with radio control helicopter flyer Arjen Beltman to build a specially-designed flying mechanism to attach to the cat. :har::har::har:

Don't know whether to be horrified or amused :hmmm:
But hey, the cat was dead before the transformation, so no harm here
Have seen everything, can now die......
I thint he expression of the guy on the right says it all.

Sick, tasteless, crazy, hilarious, funny, waste of time, disturbing, interesting, ya its all of those. But people have been known to take their deceased pets to a taxidermists before. Millions pay money to see stuffed dead animals in museums everyday day. Lets not forget Valimir Lenin.
This guy did something different. Instead of bolting kitty to a wooden display he slapped a pair of landing skids on it.
Personally its been awhile since I laughed so hard. Its not like he trapped or purchased a cat for the specific purpose of makeing a helicopter out of it.

In which case they have likely managed to miss the point of the said museums by a mile at least.
As a big cat lover it was like a dagger hit my heart, when I saw the picture :nope:
Yup, that is one sick guy, someone stick a banger up his bum and turn him into a rocket.
Cheers

I have to agree that there is nothing funny or cute about that at all.

I wouldn't mind turning a plush toy into something like this :hmmm:
To scare old ladies comming from church :D
Yeah, that's not right...I think if they did it with a human then it would be frowned upon somewhat...

Why? I didn't say anything should happen to the man. I didn't say anyone who thought it was cute was evil or sick. I just said I didn't think it was funny.
So how exactly was it harsh?

I think the dead body of any animal should be treated with respect. This could have easily been built using a toy cat.
I guess this guy did not have too many feelings for the family pet.

Sick. :nope:
Hmmm, I agree with most people here; I do not like that at all.
All I can say is that he obviously didn't love his cat to do something stupid like that!!:nope:

While disturbing.....
Yet hilarious.......
What else is a dead cat good for?

Could say the same about a human body but IIRC there was quite the uproar over the use of human skin in lampshades... :hmmm:

That is just sick. It's not art by any stretch of the imagination. Let the poor cat rest. It gave you companionship in life, the least you can do is show it respect.

I think it should be modded into SH4 as a new ASW air unit!

Do you value a cat with migration background (they came from Egypt, initially) higher than e.g. natural born US cattle ? :O:
What do you think are they doing to those animals in slaughterhouses.
But really, this is a 'pet' and has been a companion - i would not do that with my cat.
I believe there would be an uproar if someone would do that to a pug, or any dog ?

I cant belive im the only one who laughed.
Well, here something different in the name of science introducing ROBO-BADGER! (http://cameratrapcodger.blogspot.com/2008/01/adventures-with-robobadger.html)
http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa408/jky242/3d0ec54d.jpg
Robobadger was a marriage of taxidermy and a high tech toy. His first life ended abruptly on state route 287 near Laramie. The next day his ice-packed remains arrived at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. There a taxidermist worked his timeless magic, and a month later Robobadger began his second life on wheels. Robo looked menacing even with a remote-control toy jeep embedded in his solar plexus.
Oh it was menacing at first.. then I lobbed a landmine on it's tracks.
It was a good day. :sunny:

I find it creative and funny. Maybe not to my taste of something I would want.. But common, dead is dead. Its not hurting the cats feelings or nothing.

No but it obviously offends others, they should keep it to themselves!!:yep:

Would it still be creative and funny if it was a small child? :hmmm:

That was the T-600 model wait until Skynet sends a T-800 model ferret with real ferret skin so it can infiltrate your hole.

Yes and no, depending on your point of view. I don't find this helicat offensive but I wouldn't want one either. Mind you it's closer to a good use of cats than the most popular one.
Puts on flame proof suit.

No flame proof suit required old chap. :O: I do see what you mean, I mean, the cat isn't exactly going to need it any more, but I think what offends me the most about it is the distastefulness, the exploitation of a dead creatures corpse...but then again, when you look at what other delights mankind has cooked up over the years, elephant foot umbrella stand, ivory, carved bone, then perhaps it is less surprising. However, I think that if someone did this with a human corpse then people would be three or four times more upset than they are with a simple cat, which is a shame and does point towards a slight arrogance in society towards those who have a symbiotic relationship with us (you feed me, I tolerate you :03:), which is a shame.

To me, it would be distasteful because to the very high degree that our culture has for some reason decided to put on corpses. However, if you think about it.. Its just a corpse. Better make use of it than say let it go to the worms. Kinda like mummy eh? But it can fly around...
Now flying mummies? would that be distasteful.. Somehow it sounds less distasteful than flying corpse...

I would say the creator of this piece of 'art' has entirely too much time on his hands.

I find this much more distasteful - i mean it's probably good for students and studies, but to openly exhibit that ?
