4gb patch for Steam

Fellow kaleuns,

I recently downloaded the Merchant Fleet Mod 3.2 and am looking forward to trying it out. However, SH3 has been crashing every time I load a campaign. After a bit of forum trawling, I come to the conclusion that I might need to apply the 4 gb patch to be able to run it.

I've located the download and the process seems pretty straightforward, but I need to choose either the Starforce patch or "Reloaded hacked SH3" version. Which patch (if any) should I select? Thanks in advance.

I believe privateer said he was looking into that a while ago as I think neither is compatible with steam. Said hell try to release a steam patch I may be wrong here though and thinking of something else.
