Having to back off of SHIV for awhile. My emachine can barely handle it! Lol. Runs SHIII no problem though, so I'll be around over there. Getting a new computer custom built soon though, so I'll be back to SHIV soon.

E-Machines?! Wow, I didn't know they still made those.;)
Good luck with the custom-made PC. I'll bet you can't wait to fire that baby up.

Oh yeah! I'm excited for it! But until then its happy hunting in the Atlantic!
Hmmm...
Didn't know SH 3 was any less taxing than SH 4.
I guess it depends on how many mods you use. :hmmm:

SH4 demand more from the video card or onboard video system of a computer than SH3 does. CPU power is about the same unless you have shared CPU/graphics memory, in which case you are probably going to have great difficulty running SH4.
It's amazing how modest a computer can be to run SH4 if it has a decent video card. The original computer I ran it on had a single core Athlon 3000+ CPU and an EVGA nVidia 7600GT card and ran the game fine. This is likely a much slower computer than the E-machines you are running, but I did have a (barely) adequate video card.

My seven-year-old single-core Pentium 4 computer runs SH4 better than it runs SH3. Of course I run SH3 modded to the hilt, and SH4 doesn't have the kind of mods I use with SH3, so that certainly has something to do with it.
I agree about the video card. My rig runs everything much better since I upgraded to an ATI 4650, which is about the best they make for an old AGP slot.

Whoa! I haven't seen an AGP card or slot in years! But ATI made the best AGP cards I used. I want to say that my last one was a 3896 model, or something along those lines. But they were very affordable price wise, but you did have to fiddle a bit more with them than the Nvidia cards.
I remember, I had to keep 2 sets of drivers because a couple flight sims had issues. One would work fine with a set of drivers, and the other would have artifacts in it, and vise versa.
I got real good at deleting and loading drivers with that setup!
