I'm surprised there wasn't already a thread on this. Particularly as this year is looking more interesting than the last few. 6 races 6 different winners. Certainly looks like an even field with different circuits and strategies giving different teams a chance.

Good to see Webber get a win, his 2nd at Monaco.

I for one am actually a little more interested this season.

Thanks, got it recorded and I am only up to lap 6. :stare:

I agree, this is probably the most interesting and open a season there has ever been, and until Monaco (I'm guessing until I've watched the next 70-odd laps) that there has been an unprecedented amount of overtaking in the first handful of races in the recent era.

And on the BBC we got a peek at bits of Ron Howard's new film 'Rush' about James Hunt and Niki Lauda (I said NIKI LAUDA).

I don't mind as long as Lewis Hamilton doesn't win, I just cant stand the arrogant sod.

Meh, people said that about Schumy and yet all those that knew him personally said it wasn't arrogance at all. Maybe it's the same for Lewis.

Or maybe it is arrogance, after a lifetime of your parents raising money just to keep you in karts as a kid, travelling far flung corners of the world (or at least Europe), then maybe you do expect you're better than everyone else. :hmmm:

A Brits a Brit and I like them on the grid, and the podium.

For me it's the same, but with Alonso. He is a good driver, they all are, but he annoys me to hell and back.

Young people! :nope:

I've read about and watched many videos from the past, going back as far as 1930, and the lack of overtaking is a recent phenomenon, brought about by the advent of wider tires, wings and turbochargers. The latter are gone but the engines have improved even more.

I'm not disagreeing with your summation, and it sounds like it's a great season. I'm just pointing out that the statements "...as interesting and open a season there has ever been..." and "...an unprecedented amount..." are, in my opinion, somewhat limited.

Sorry, I just reread your last line, "in the recent era." My bad.

I don't know....I don't like the whole DRS business. Yes, we have more over-takings but they have been devalued dramatically by DRS.:shifty:
Maybe it's my memory (everything was better in the past...) but I think I remember intense racing during the 90ies (Schumacher/Hill/Hakkinen anyone?). Why don't we just go back to those aerodynamic regulations and without the fancy electronics and DRS stuff. Those were battles and people had to fight for overtaking and not just had to push a button that left the opponent no chance.

Why would they do that? She has nothing to do with F1 racing. She was in Indycars, now going to NASCAR.

Formula one? Isn't that some horse racing deal over in Europelandia?

/goes back to "watching Nascar and drinkin' beer!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYIhNLEzAds)

Somebody over there begged (and, no doubt, paid) Bernie to bring the F1 circus to the States!

NASCAR - Left a bit, straight on, left a bit, straight on, left a bit, straight on, left a bit, straight on, left a bit, straight on... :O:

Yup. It's easy to watch when you're hammered.

Starting following F-1 as a kid after seeing the movie "Grand Prix" (1966?). At some point long ago I chose Maclaren to be "my team" through thick and thin. Happily, there's been more a lot more thick than thin over the years, so I can wait out the latest "meh" cycle. Something's out of alignment, and it isn't the chassis.

God help us all come the day that Ferrari finally gives Alonso a chassis worthy of his talent. I don't like the fellow very much, but as drivers go, I rank him among the very, very best ever to hold a Super License. The fricken' guy could finish in the points driving a three wheeled school bus with two flats.
