The Gold edition that I installed a few days ago is great, I like the make over with the cleaner crisper GUI...

...but in their usual wisdom...they have messed up another part of the game....

...You see, I cant always remember the various speeds and ranges of the torpedoes and used to click on the torp in the torpedo screen to reveal the information about it. This has now gone! and just tells you what type of torpedo it is!

Anyone know of a mod that can give me all the information back.

Had I known MK18's were a damn sight slower, whilst back at base I would not have paid 200 points for them.

Mark 18s are electric and therefore wakeless. It depends on the tactical situation, but they're worth it usually.

Mark 14 Slow Setting 31 Knots 9000 yards 643 lb torpex warhead - Severe reliability problems during the early part of the war
Mark 14 Fast Setting 46 Knots 4500 yards 643 lb torpex warhead - Severe reliability problems during the early part of the war
Mark 23 Same as Mark 14 with slow speed disabled - Just a cheaper version of the mark 14
Mark 18 29 Knots 4000 yards 575 lb torpex warhead - Copy of the german g7e
Mark 10 36 Knots 3500 yards 497 lb tnt warhead - Post WWI Torpedo, all the s-boat can equip
Mark 27 12 knots 5000 yards 95 lb torpex warhead - Homing
Mark 16 46 Knots 13700 yards 943 lb torpex warhead - Not actually used in WWII at all

I'll look up the ranges for ya man.

Edit: Filled it out more.

Also, I've not tried RFB, but TMO has this info in the game.

The German campiagn seams to have the data, its only the US side of things that its missing.

Thanks for the brilliant and important data CSL, very helpful and most appreciated mate! I will copy n paste into notepad for the use of later.

Firing on a closing 23kt Fubuki DD with slow torpedoes at 650 yrds is a bit nerve wracking at the best of times!!

Just 29 cowing knots on the Mk18...sheesh not bloody surprised I missed! I want a refund from base!!

The upshot of the 18 is that he won't see and dodge them, which is nice.

I am using SH 4 Gold and am able to click on the American torpedo and get the speed and distance etc. Could it be a corrupt file ?

I believe the gold version had that fixed with the 1.5 patch. Your file is not corrupt

If you want the info, and a bit more, for the stock game, check out my Office Links, Info Boxes, and 50 Cal mod. Link in my sig below.

I agree with Eugene Fluckey. The Mark 14's increased speed more than makes up for its visibility in any condition but flat seas and great visibility. Even then the solution is not to use Mark 18s but to get in close so it doesn't matter if the torpedo is spotted. It's coming so fast that avoidance is not possible. All they can do is see approaching unavoidable death.

You'll find in the game that the Mark 18 is just too slow to be a decent weapon. The real captains were disappointed with them. After review, their production was discontinued after the war. What does that tell you? You'll get better results just loading up with Mark 14s or Mark 23s.
