Version 1.1.5.... GU.exe crashes??

Hello Fellow Mariners!

I just started playing SH5 but have played just about all the SH games as they have come out over the years. I have been reading up on SH5 and the many issues the game has, but looking through the whitecaps I see that it's gotten pretty decent as long as you can get it modded up and running well on your PC. I was at the start of trying to mod the game, but I ran into an issue. On my Main Menu screen SH5 shows that it is only at version 1.1.5. I tried running the gu.exe update to get it to version 1.2.0, but it failed and now if I try to run the gu.exe from the ubisoft folder, it crashes out and gives me an error "Silent Hunter has stopped working...." and will not update.

I bought the game via the Gamestop download option but it seems to install and run as though it was installed from the DVD. There are no "extra" DRM dealies as far as I can tell. I really would like to update to version 1.2.0 so I can get involved with all the nice mods that have come out for this game so I would love some feedback as to what I might need to do in order to get running with the mods.

I'm hoping I do not have to re-load and re-install if at all possible. I've put about 10 hours in already so if I could save that time it would be fantastic, but I lay myself at the feet of the Subsim gods and hope they can steer me in the right direction.

Thanks for the quick reply Sober! I downloaded that patch earlier and tried to run it but it tells me it can;t run with my version of the game. My version is 1.1.5 which is a later patch than the 1.02 update.

I guess my question *might* be is that the version I currently have, which is 1.1.5 as stated int he upper right hand corner of my main menu screen, the latest patched version or is there a patch above that which would be 1.2. The mods all seem to point to a 1.2.x patch which would be newer than what I have.

Is the 1.0.2 patch the one needed to have the mods working properly?

That link is the patch 1.0.2 or 1.2 . It is the same thing . Anyway forget the downloaded game and get the DVD . They are cheap now and you need it to patch the game to the next unofficial patch which is 1.3 i guess . Here is the link to what 1.3 fixes.

Thanks Sober. I appreciate your time. Amazon has it for $8 or so for the DVD so I'll just have them send it to me. I'd much rather know I have a moddable exe instead of trying to blindly finagle my way through the downloaded version.

I have similar problem I think.....after I install everythings works. But when I click in the launcher ' do some type of update' and game not start....I really do not know which version is what is causing this....:stare:

I have applied v1.2 but the mods are not recognized....:damn:

please someone can help me ? :cry:
