View Full Version : Oldie but newbie
Hi guys,
Been a member for a while but not been around due to work and dull real life stuff.
Decided to install SHIII & IV on the pc again after a couple of years away from them and I've picked up the U-Boat missions add on for IV. Looks good. Glad now I didn't sell my copies.
Anyway, never been much of a poster on any forum but saying hi and looking to pick up a few hint, tips and downloads :DL again to make the experience as good as I remember it was.
Cheers :salute:

Wel-come back abaord Kaleun ... :arrgh!:
Thanks for the welcome back guys.
Took the plunge and ordered SH 5 after seeing all the community mods that are out for it. You guys are amazing. :yeah:
I may regret spending the cash on SH 5 as I was put off by the negativity when it was released and I have SH III and GWX but I'm prepared to give it a shot. Has the game improved with the patch and mods to a good standard now or is it still wallowing in GWX's wake?
Which are the best mods to install without spending two weeks trying to gather them? :D
Many cheers again :salute:
Welcome LNER1!

Hi,
Yes, from my forray into MS train sim. God what was I thinking. Had the flask and anorak as well.;)
Just kidding. I actually still play around with my "train set" now and then. Quite enjoyable and I never had the room for a Hornby set.
But sub sims are the way ahead and below now.
In the words of a "famous" U-Boat captain "I don't want any nasty soggy chips" :haha:
Cheers :salute:
MSTS, those were the days! :haha: Railworks is the big scene now, some lovely stuff on it if you ever feel like donning the anorak again. LNER is all good, although I'm a Southern/GWR man myself but since I live in LNER territory I've got a soft spot for the Gresleys too.
Oh, and "Vhen ve vin ze var...ve vill conzult ze list!" :03::haha:
Thanks for the welcome back guys.

Hi, I would go for Sobers Megamod:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192374
or if you have a good machine with Win 7 64bit:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192236
Both will take some time to download though!:yep:
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the heads up guys.
Don't have win 7. Will that make a huge difference to the MMM mod? PC is a few years old now as well. :hmmm:
Managed to download the MMM mega mod :DL and will download Sobers MM over the next week (10 file limit). Not a problem as I have SHIII & IV to keep me occupied. Unless somebody can email me the smaller files on ze list. :D.
Talking of ze list Oberon! It doesn't matter how many times I watch that episode of Dad's Army, I still laugh. Has to be one of the funniest comedy episodes ever. In fact I think I will watch it now while I wait for the limit to be reset.
Wife just phoned to say my copy of SH V was delivered today. :yeah:
Many cheers :salute:

Welcome aboard :salute:
I still have a Hornby Advanced Passenger Train, boxed, only used a handful of times - my dad was keen not to let me use it as the program had just been scrapped and 'it'd be worth something one day'. :D
Apart from that my interest in trains is negligable bar waving at one at a crossing with my daughter. Today was a good day, four trains in succession and all drivers waved, and one tooted. :D
Installed MMM 0.5 and had a quick look around. So far so good. :yeah:
Different looking game now. Hat's off to the modders. Many thanks for all the effort put in on making the game a sim. What other improvement are recommended that are compatible with MMM?
Will be having a good play around this weekend. Got the gramaphone wound up and ready to go and find out if it is a long way to tipperary.
Hope I don't end up a virtual addition to the 28,000. Probably will. :dead:
Many cheers :salute:
Well I got the MMM 0.5 up and running. Great stuff. Had the issue with ctd when arriving at Kiel when starting a campaign :damn:. Should have paid more attention to the read me. DOH!!!
Anyway skipped the tutorial (eventually) and am out on my first patrol. :yeah:
Thanks again to all the modders who have made me take a second look at this game. :salute:
You're most welcome, and good luck!:yep:
I'll probably need the luck.
Having a lot of fun with the game (sim). Happy times ahead. I'll enjoy it while it lasts. Thank goodness for the save button. :03:
I still can't believe the work you guys have put into this and the other SH games. And to think Ubisoft got all the money. :arrgh!:
I'm using the MMM 0.5 and all seems good and stable even on my old pedal power PC. :DL
Campaign going well with two ships sunk after 4 days. Won't get to resume until Monday or Tuesday now.
OMG I've aquired a habit, must resist clicking on desktop shortcut. :88)
Many cheers :salute:
