The parachute was still there apparently, but the pilot is still listed as MIA...poor soul. Must have survived the landing and then disappeared into the desert. Makes you wonder about what's still out there all these decades on.

I often wonder what the loss statics where for the aircrews of all sides due to getting lost like this?My guess is that it might have high in some regions where there is little to aid in navigation such as the desert and over the ocean not to mention that there where many fliers that had little more than flight school and navigators with nothing more than school training to rely on.

In the desert the only hope you have is to be lucky enough to happen across a group of Bedouins.

That thing looks mint. Amazing how the desert preserves everything after all these years.
