Some questions about SH3 Commander.

Ahoy fellow Captins! :arrgh!:

New here but a long time player of the game and just now got hookt on the modings.... yes im a bit slow, so mite also the questions i have show.

Firts i would like to say that this ist any form of complaning, my hat of to the produser of this mod, its really nice.

First question:

When i get to give my crew medals in the vanilla game you get not quite so many as you do whit the mod on, why?

Nummber two:

Dont know if this is just a problem on my PC but when you are going to give medals to your crew in the SHC i can give every member a secundclass cross(and a wounded badge even if no one got wounded), but i dident get one my self in the game, why would a captin give all his crew members one of those if he dident ern one himselt, and after i have given someone a cross i can alredy give him the other ones to?

The stock game allows only one medal per patrol. What if you think more of your crew deserve it? SH3C lets you do that.

With or without Commander, the game is limited. It can allow only one medal at a time. Commander fixes that by removinge the limitation, but it can't just reset it to a different level. As for wound badges, the game has the flaw that if a wounded crewmember heals completely before the patrol is over, he is no longer wounded and doesn't get the badge. Again, Commander fixes that, but it can't make the game see the difference, so you can hand out all of those you want.

As for the medals you recieve, the game handles that differently. It decides what you will be awarded, not you. In one way this is historically accurate. The captain doesn't really hand out medals, he recommends them and someone higher up approves or declines the recommendation. The captain has to be recommended by his higher ups. He can't just say "Give me an Iron Cross - I deserve it." The game makes that decision for you.

Now i have another question for you if you can bare some more from a total no know on this things.

I was hoping that i was going to be aloud to upgrade my sub ones i was transfered to Brest, i wanted to change to a IX after swiming around in my II seens the start, so i aplied for a transfer to the 2nd in Lorient but there was no subs available there at all, not even the ones they had from there founding, the typ 7b or the 9b, i have selected the historical availability but it dosent seem to help.

I have now been reading the PDF file from SH3 and see that i need to do some tampering whit the files here and there, but i cant understand pup of what it means, what do i do, is there any help for an idiot like me here or should i retier from the game world an becom a munk?

Welcome aboard. Your English is fine and exponentially better than my second language.
The more you play SH3, the more you will see the need for the major mods, of which there are several.
I suggest you play SH3 for a few weeks and note the problems that concern you. Then choose a major mod and you will note that most of them have been addressed.

Yes i have read about them here and there, but the internet here is very unreliable so i havent been sucsessful to download any of them, to big i think, it stops after a while, to many peapole here :D

I have now another problem, the calender is going backwords so i think i wount get the sub i want anyway :S

I will have to go vanilla all the way here :rock:
