View Full Version : Occasional flickering polygon at screen centre?

Hello,

This problem really puzzles me- I have it in both SH3 stock environment/water and SH5 stock environment/water. ITs a quickly flashing and disappearing black-grey polygon that appears for a split second and then disappears and happens randomly every minute or two.

The weirdest thing is that once I've installed GWX mod (which changed water and other gfx)- the flickering was gone completely. Identically with SH5 - I install dynamic Environment or Real Environment (which change water/gfx) - the flickering is GONE permanently! When I remove such mods form JGSME - the flickering comes back with the stock water:o

The thing is I much prefer stock SH5 water this time (GWX was lovely and I did not want stock SH3 water). Could someone give me a hint of how I could solve this problem? Only for SH5- I no longer play SH3 (Thanks TDW for that ;)) I'm just at a complete loss...:06:

I remember that problem somewhat.
It's in the scene.dat file.

I know there is a thread from way back that addressed that.

and found the solution for SH3! Tweak the horizon number in scene.dat to 2100 to remove black artifacts. But of course, I need to find the solution for Sh5:hmmm:

I have opened SH5's scene.dat with Silent 3ditor, but can not find the horizon value:06:

I've tried changing this value to 3000 (from default 2000) but artefacts still appear

In fact, I'm not sure if its scene.dat 's fault at all in SH5 - I've replaced the entire scene.dat with the one from non-artefacting mod (Real environment) and still get the same flashing artefacts...

Video card settings maybe? Maybe AA related or something else? I have no clue but just throwing some ideas out there.

But why would the artefacts go away the moment I turn on an environment mod on (without changing a thing in drivers etc)? I think the problem maybe drivers related, but I'm trying to understand what is it that enviro/water/gfx mods have that stock game hasn't and which results in these artefacts... I'll look into it some more tomorrow:)

could you kindly give me a link to SH3 Mini Tweaker if you have it? I'd like to try it with SH5.
