[QUOTE]Picking a fight with Meekins is a bad idea, said Army veteran Mike Saunders, deputy legislative director for The Retired Enlisted Association, which fights to ensure veterans get the health and welfare entitlements promised them.

So what are the health and welfare entitlements are they fighting for in this case?
No refunds without insurance means no refunds without insurance.
Its the American version of O'Leary, you get what you pay for and should expect nothing else, if you don't want to deal with bargain basement conditions then don't deal with a bargain basement outfit.

I thought being American meant being entitled to nothing, you work hard and you roll with the punches.

What do you mean? As far as I can tell nobody is telling the airline that they have to refund a dying man his money. Being an American also means being entitled to an opinion.

And that was my opinion.:O:

Yes, Spirit Airlines are a bunch of a-holes and have been for a long time. They're one of the most fee happy airlines with horrible customer service. I'm not saying that this poor guy shouldn't get a refund - it would be the classy and heartfelt thing to do - but expecting that from Spirit Airlines is expecting a lot.

If I were one of it's executives i'd have refunded the guy out of my own pocket. It's not even 200 bucks. A lot cheaper than the lost business is going to end up costing them.

They won't lose business, people that want to use a bargain basement airline will use a bargain basement airline.

Businesses have the right to make any legal policy they like
Citizens have the right to decide not to use that business.

Would people's opinion on this issue change if it did not involve a vet?

I'd like to think not but I can only speak for myself.

Most likely it wouldn't even made it in to the news.

How many hundreds of people don't get refunds due to terms and conditions every month?
