A ship from the past....

Sh4, Im afraid to say has laid in my pile of computer games until recently. I took it out and started to play it.

Doing the first stage, a recce off Honshu bay then down towards the Philippines. On a track heading back up the South china sea I received info of an approaching enemy ship. Getting closer to it I was finally able to see the contact in the Scope.....It was an old sail boat from the 17th/18th Century, a ghost galleon.

Has any other members seen this galleon yet?

see the Dutchman thread where one skipper posted time, date, and coordinates of the siting NE of Luzon. Oh, who was that skipper, you ask? Why it was none other than the famous and very humble IGD, captain of USS Barb's cuter little sister, the Barbarinna. (I am so clever, I can't stand myself. And you probably can't either.)

During carnival a periscope was sighted about 100 yds. off the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches for seveal days. Rumor has it that it scoping the thong clad beathing beauties for which Rio is famous. Rumor also has it that SH4's Daniel Prates operating a Gato equipped with Capnsurvey's Optical Targeting Correction and was on a "training" exercise. Training for what is anyone's guess? No one is talking.

O.K. I am on a mission in Luzon Strait when I come across a 3 masted "ghost ship". It was extremely fast and it soon disapeared. I returned to Midway for refit and, when I returned to Luzon, the only ship that keeps showing as an enemy ship is this ghost ship. 5 days (in game time) and I have come close enough to use torpedos, deck guns, ramming (right thru her) with no results. NO ENEMY ships ever appear. How can I complete my mission. Do I have to destroy this ship to move on? If so, HOW??? ANY HELP OR TIPS???

Are you running stock? If so, then what is in the star? If there is a flag, then you get close enough to it, and you get orders. If there are binoculars, then you need to get within 50nm of it, and stay within the radius for however long you're supposed to. I think for stock, it's automatically 3 days. If you're running a mod, you need to follow the orders you're given.

The ghost ship has no effect on other traffic in the area. Also, you don't have to complete a mission, just go home when you're ready. As long as you sink ships, you'll get promoted, many of us totally ignore missions. However, as fire said, if you want to complete a mission you must stay within the mission zone for a set amount of time, so check those orders. If it's not clear, just park on the patrol star and time compress until the star greys out. It's up to you when you go home, the game will give you as many patrol missions as you ask for. With 25 ships sunk, go home, get drunk, laid, promoted,,,and head back out.
