View Full Version : Any 'Alternate History' or Futuristic Submarine Games?

I've played quite a few submarine sims and games, though while there's nothing wrong with realism, I've always had this desire to play with... Less Realistic subs. Not necessarily to the point of Sub Titans (an RTS which promised more than it delivered to me. Firing lasers underwater was just a bit too much <<; ) but nonetheless featuring things we'd never find IRL. Cluster Torpedoes or whatnot.
All in all, if one of you knows of any mod, game (digital or otherwise) or whatever that features lots of playable futuristic or steampunk or otherwise fantastical Submarines, I'd love it if you post it on this topic.
I know it's oft looked down upon 'round these parts, but I find it a nice thought experiment (not to mention it's just grand fun launching something innately ridiculous like a Cluster Torpedo ;3)
Kind regards,
Kano.

Welcome aboard
The only "alternative" history sub sim I know of is Enigma Rising which had a pretty good voice command feature.

Oh! Thanks, that's defenitely one I didn't know about yet.
Any others? I found a few mods for SH 4, the NSS Shark, Kraken, Blackwolf and Titan (sorry, forgot the modder's name) that also give you command over... less than realistic subs.

Aloha Keno, welcome to subsim. :salute:
Although the subs also use underwater laser weapons there, you might want to check out the Aquanox series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AquaNox). Set in the future, it offers an Elite-like gameplay. The games are a little older, but I liked it back then.

I preferred the original Archimedean Dynasty, and going back further there is also Subwar 2050.

Hmmm, yes, I played the Aquanox series (including Archimedean Dynasty), though they're not really submarine games in my eyes ;3 Defenitely more space fighters underwater. Fun, though, I defenitely liked 'em, especially the setting.
Subwar 2050, that one's new. I'll check it out for sure.

Enigma Rising Tide is a great alternate history game. And you can get the game free at games on net or something like that. The devs shut down. Game client is on the games in net place. It's where I got my copy.

There is a Sea Quest game based off the old tv show. you'll need to get an emulator to play it but your request was a bit vague and well it IS a futuristic sub game.
